Attorney / Associate - Real Estate Finance

Watts & Associates is working discreetly with a highly regarded national full service firm with Chambers ranked practices seeking a 4th to 8th year Real Estate Finance Associate to join its Washington, DC office.

This role sits in a well established commercial real estate finance team handling sophisticated middle market and institutional transactions for lenders and borrowers. You will run deals with close partner access, take substantive ownership of financing workstreams, and build a long term platform within a collaborative national practice that values training, client contact, and progression.

The Role

Represent lenders and borrowers in a broad range of commercial real estate finance transactions

Structure and execute mortgage loans, construction loans, leverage loans, and mezzanine financings

Draft and negotiate credit agreements, security documents, intercreditor agreements, and ancillary documentation

Lead day to day deal management, coordinate with opposing counsel, and communicate directly with client teams

First chair transactions with partner support while mentoring juniors and contributing to practice development

Ideal Candidate Profile

The firm is seeking a 4th to 8th year Real Estate Finance Associate with:

4th to 8th year associate class experience at a law firm

Significant broad based commercial real estate finance experience for lenders and or borrowers

Experience or clear desire to first chair transactions and independently run deals with team support

Strong drafting skills plus confident client facing written and verbal communication abilities

Admission to the District of Columbia bar and willingness to be in office 5 days each week

Compensation & Benefits

Up to $365,000 base salary, depending on class year and experience
