The company is looking for an experienced and technically strong professional to lead its in-house laboratory quality systems, NABL accreditation and ISO/IEC 17025 compliance.

POSITION

Senior Chemist – NABL & ISO/IEC 17025 Lead

Job Location: Howrah – Sankrail Factory

Salary: Negotiable – As per experience & suitability

Job Type: Full-Time

Qualification: M.Sc. Chemistry preferred / B.Sc. with relevant experience

Experience: 5–10+ Years in Laboratory / Quality Environment

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The selected candidate will be responsible for independently managing the laboratory's quality and accreditation activities, including:

NABL ACCREDITATION

• Lead the end-to-end NABL accreditation process for the company's in-house laboratory.

• Coordinate and prepare the laboratory for NABL assessment, documentation and compliance requirements.

• Ensure continuous readiness for NABL audits, assessments and surveillance activities.

• Identify gaps in laboratory systems and implement corrective measures.

ISO/IEC 17025 COMPLIANCE

• Independently manage and maintain compliance with ISO/IEC 17025 requirements.

• Establish, implement and continuously improve laboratory quality management systems.

• Ensure laboratory procedures, testing methods and records comply with applicable standards.

• Monitor quality objectives and maintain proper documentation.

LABORATORY DOCUMENTATION & SOPs

• Prepare, review and maintain laboratory SOPs, quality manuals, work instructions, formats and records.

• Ensure proper control and maintenance of laboratory documentation.

• Maintain testing records, calibration records, equipment documentation and other quality-related records.

• Ensure laboratory personnel follow approved procedures and documented methods.

AUDIT & CORRECTIVE ACTION

• Coordinate internal and external laboratory audits.

• Handle audit observations, non-conformities and corrective/preventive actions.

• Conduct root-cause analysis and ensure timely closure of corrective actions.

• Maintain audit trails and evidence required for accreditation and compliance.

TESTING & METHOD VALIDATION

• Support and monitor laboratory testing activities.

• Ensure appropriate test methods, method validation/verification and quality-control practices are followed.

• Maintain accuracy, reliability and traceability of laboratory results.

• Ensure proper calibration and monitoring of laboratory instruments and equipment.

️ QUALITY MANAGEMENT

• Develop and maintain a strong laboratory quality culture.

• Monitor laboratory performance and compliance indicators.

• Ensure ongoing accreditation readiness and regulatory compliance.

• Coordinate with production, quality, technical and management teams whenever required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION

M.Sc. in Chemistry – Preferred

OR

B.Sc. in Chemistry / relevant discipline with strong relevant experience

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT

5–10+ years of laboratory experience

Experience in NABL accreditation and ISO/IEC 17025 is highly preferred.

Strong understanding of laboratory quality-management systems.

Practical knowledge of method validation / verification.

Experience in laboratory documentation, SOP preparation and audit management.

Candidates with experience in industrial laboratories, chemical testing, lubricant/oil testing or manufacturing environments may be preferred.

IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE

We are looking for a professional who can independently take ownership of the laboratory's accreditation and quality-management activities.

The candidate should have:

Strong technical knowledge of laboratory quality systems

Practical NABL accreditation experience

Good understanding of ISO/IEC 17025

Excellent documentation and reporting skills

Strong audit-handling capability

Knowledge of corrective and preventive actions

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

Ability to coordinate independently with multiple departments

Good communication and team-management skills

A systematic and compliance-oriented approach
