Job summary:

Perform general maintenance and repairs for assigned equipment and facilities including, but not limited to plumbing, electrical, basic carpentry, heating and cooling, and other building systems.

Qualifications:

Required:

Two (2) years of maintenance and custodial experience

Ability to:

Pass a drug screening and State of Alaska background check

Qualify for SFA’s commercial automobile insurance

A current valid driver’s license

Skills required:

Knowledge of:

General carpentry and repair

Methods of cleaning and preserving floors, walls, and fixtures

Occupational hazards and standard safety practices

Common janitorial equipment (i.e. broom, ladder, step stool), motorized vehicles and power equipment (i.e vacuums, common power tools, yard equipment)

Ability to:

Use power, and hand, tools

Work independently in the absence of supervision

Build good rapport with shareholders, clients and staff

Excellent organizational and time management skills

Job responsibilities:

Inspects and identifies facilities, equipment or machines in need of repair

Troubleshoots issues to determine necessary repairs

Plans repair work using building’s blueprints or equipment manual as needed

Performs general repairs that do not require a specialized technician. Examples may include repairing drywall, painting, and repairing doors and other building fixtures

Performs routine maintenance and cleaning of facilities

Orders supplies and materials needed for cleaning, repairs, and maintenance

Primary functions require enough physical ability and mobility to walk and stand for prolonged periods of time; stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, climb, reach and twist; regularly push, pull, lift, and/or carry light to moderately heavy objects and occasionally objects over 45 pounds; requires an ability to operate various equipment
