Job Title: Automation Engineer

Location: Columbus, Ohio

Work Arrangement: Onsite

Experience Level: 4 5 Years

Pay rate: $45/hr - $50/hr

Job Summary:

We are seeking a mid-level Automation Engineer to support the design, integration, commissioning, qualification, validation, and operation of automated warehouse and packaging systems in a GMP-regulated environment. The role will focus on ASRS, AGVs, robotics, PLC/HMI/SCADA, and industrial automation systems while ensuring compliance with GxP, FDA, safety, and quality requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Support the design and integration of automated packaging, warehouse, ASRS, and AGV systems.

Develop and maintain equipment, automation, and compliance documentation.

Support commissioning, qualification, validation, startup, and troubleshooting activities.

Work with Quality, CSV, IT/OT, Manufacturing, Packaging, Warehouse, and external vendors.

Support PLC, HMI/SCADA, controls, robotics, and industrial networking systems.

Ensure automation systems comply with GMP, 21 CFR Part 11, FDA, OSHA, and data integrity requirements.

Coordinate with vendors and system integrators on technical deliverables and project execution.

Support continuous improvement, system standardization, and reliable automation operations.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's/Master's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Automation Engineering, or related field.

Experience with industrial automation in a GMP/GxP-regulated manufacturing environment.

Hands-on experience with automation, robotics, and automated material handling systems.

Experience with ASRS and AGVs is strongly preferred.

Knowledge of PLC/HMI/SCADA, preferably Allen-Bradley, Siemens, RSView, or PanelView.

Understanding of OT/IT integration, industrial networking, Industry 4.0, and IIoT.

Familiarity with commissioning, qualification, validation, and CSV activities.

Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Willingness to travel occasionally.
