Title: IT Specialist
Reports to: Director of IT & Operations
Location: Hybrid, one day per week work from home with the remainder in the downtown Columbus, OH office
Schedule: Monday-Friday 9:00am-5:00pm with some nights and weekend required for events and occasional flexibility based on business needs
Salary Range: $50,000 - $60,000 based on experience
Comprehensive Benefits including: medical, dental, vision, retirement, PTO, wellness days, paid holidays, one work from home day per week, and parental leave.
Position Overview
The Greater Columbus Arts Council (GCAC) is seeking a collaborative, service-oriented IT Specialist to support the organization's technology systems, business applications, websites, databases, and day-to-day technology operations. Reporting to the Director of IT & Operations, this position serves as a key resource for staff, volunteers, applicants, reviewers, and external users by providing technical support, training, system administration, and project coordination.
The IT Specialist will assist with the management of cloud-based business applications, including SmartSimple, Neon One, Microsoft 365, SharePoint, and other technology platforms; maintain organizational websites; support technology needs for programs and events; and help implement technology solutions that improve organizational efficiency and user experience. This role also develops user training materials, delivers technology training, coordinates with vendors and service providers, and serves as a primary point of contact for troubleshooting and support requests.
This position operates in a hybrid work environment and requires occasional evening and weekend support for organizational events, community programs, and technology initiatives. Key Responsibilities
Provide first-line technical support for staff and external users.
Administer and maintain databases, cloud applications, websites, and collaboration platforms.
Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Microsoft 365 and SharePoint environments.
Create reports, dashboards, and data exports to support organizational decision-making.
Develop and deliver technology training and user documentation.
Support technology operations for organizational events and community programs.
Coordinate with technology vendors, contractors, and service providers.
Manage user access, permissions, and account administration across systems.
Maintain technology inventory and support cybersecurity and data integrity practices.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Associate's or bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, or a related field; equivalent combination of education and experience considered.
2-5 years of progressively responsible IT support, systems administration, or technology operations experience.
Experience troubleshooting hardware, software, databases, and cloud-based applications in a professional environment.
Working knowledge of HTML; JavaScript experience preferred.
Understanding of database structures, data management, and query concepts.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint); Microsoft 365 administration experience preferred.
Experience with help desk operations, user support, and technical training.
Knowledge of data security, cybersecurity best practices, and data privacy principles.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
Ability to work independently, collaboratively, and provide exceptional customer service to diverse user groups.
