Job Description
Palmer Foundry is seeking a production supervisor to oversee the daily operations of the foundry to ensure the safe, efficient, and cost-effective production of high-quality aluminum castings. This role supervises all production employees, monitors workflow, maintains quality standards, and ensures we are in compliance with all OSHA and environmental regulations.
This position may require access to export-controlled technology or software source code that is subject to export controls restrictions under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (“ITAR”) and the Export Administration Regulations (“EAR”) and will therefore be required to meet eligibility criteria under ITAR and EAR regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Production & Operations
Supervise and coordinate all daily foundry production activities, including Core making, Molding, Melting, Pouring, Knockout, Cut-off, CNC, Grinding, and Finishing/ Shipping
Lead, train, and motivate production personnel to meet production, quality, shipping, and safety goals
Manage staffing, scheduling, performance evaluations, and employee development
Monitor production schedules and ensure orders are completed on time
Inspect production processes and finished product to maintain quality standards
Oversee resin-to-catalyst ratios for sand mixes
Monitor furnace operations, degassing procedure, pouring temperatures, and casting processes
Track all consumables used during production. Compute amounts of stock and supplies required for operations based on production schedules
Maintain accurate production records, shift reports, and inventory documentation
Implement continuous improvements initiatives to increase efficiency and reduce scrap/rework
Team Leadership & Safety
Guarantee strict compliance with PPE and OSHA standards
Educate team members on no-bake molding techniques
Conduct reviews and resolve personnel issues quickly
Quality Assurance
Interface with others in the organization to ensure customer deadlines are met
Inspect and measure parts and products to verify conformance to specifications and adherence to standardized work instructions
Check mold hardness, venting, and core alignment
Analyze scrap data to eliminate casting flaws
Direct workers in adjusting equipment to repair products which fail to meet standards
Develop, recommend, and/or implement measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product
Experience & Education:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent required. Associate or bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, business, or related field preferred
Minimum of 3 to 5 years of supervisory experience
Direct experience with aluminum (or non-ferrous) melting & casting methods a plus
Technical Skills:
Proficiency with manufacturing ERP software, time-tracking systems, and Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook)
Familiarity with lean manufacturing, 5S, root-cause analysis, corrective-action methods
Excellent leadership, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Understanding of aluminum, dross management, and thermal analysis are a plus

Supervisory Responsibilities
Departmental Oversight: Exercise direct supervision and operational control over all production personnel within the production building.
Compliance & Policy Adherence: Execute all supervisory mandates in strict alignment with corporate policies, standard operating procedures, and relevant employment laws.
Workforce Planning & Direction: Strategize, assign, and manage daily workflows while delivering comprehensive onboarding and technical training to floor staff.
Performance & Talent Management: Conduct regular performance appraisals, deliver constructive coaching, and administer corrective actions in compliance with established progressive discipline policies.
Conflict Resolution & Employee Relations: Serve as the primary point of contact for employee complaints and operational bottlenecks, actively resolving floor-level issues while proactively escalating complex or sensitive matters to Human Resources for formal intervention

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle or feel. Occasionally lift or move materials weighing up to 50pounds, with assistance when required. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk and talk or hear. Must be available to work overtime, weekends, or alternate shifts when operationally necessary.
Looking to fill three roles:
Schedule: No Bake Production: 5:00 am to 2:00 pm (1st shift supervisor)
12:30 pm to 9:30 pm (2nd shift supervisor)
Green Sand Production: 5:00 am to 2:00 pm (1st shift supervisor)
