We are seeking an experienced Controller to join a growing and well-established construction company with a strong reputation and a collaborative, people-focused culture. The Controller will oversee the company’s accounting and financial operations while partnering closely with leadership to support sound financial decision-making and continued business growth. Responsibilities
Oversee day-to-day accounting and financial operations
Manage the month-end and year-end close processes
Prepare and analyze financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and management reports
Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and cash management
Manage construction-related accounting, including job costing, WIP reporting, project financials, and revenue recognition
Monitor project profitability and provide financial insight to project and company leadership
Develop and maintain internal controls and accounting policies
Coordinate with external auditors, tax professionals, banks, and other outside partners
Lead and develop accounting staff while fostering a collaborative team environment
Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting, and efficiency
Partner with senior leadership on financial planning, budgeting, and strategic initiatives
Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and company policies
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience in a Controller or senior accounting role
Construction industry experience strongly preferred
Strong understanding of job costing, WIP, and project accounting
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting
Experience with accounting software and strong Excel skills
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with leadership and operational teams
