Overview
We are seeking an experienced Production Supervisor / Packaging Supervisor to manage the daily activities of an industrial food grade packaging department within a 24/7 manufacturing operation. This hands-on leadership role oversees approximately 30 direct reports across production, packaging, and warehouse operations and drives department reliability and continuous-improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate combines strong people leadership with the mechanical aptitude to help run and troubleshoot line equipment when needed.
Responsibilities
Manage daily can line production/packaging operations, ensuring the department is properly staffed, planned, and executed.
Supervise and develop approximately 30 direct reports across the packaging and warehouse areas, including shift leads and line operators, handling training, work assignments, complaints, and problem resolution.
Build and manage production/packaging and personnel schedules to meet output goals.
Partner with Maintenance on equipment reliability, preventive maintenance, work orders, root-cause analysis, and continuous-improvement projects to reduce downtime and improve OEE.
Provide hands-on mechanical support by operating, adjusting, and troubleshooting can line equipment during staffing gaps, changeovers, or breakdowns.
Control materials and finished goods inventories and oversee all production documentation and department data entry.
Own the safety performance of the department.
Skills and Qualifications
Technical degree from a 2-year accredited college, or equivalent or greater.
10+ years of experience in a high-volume production, production/manufacturing, or logistics facility.
5+ years of leadership experience with direct reports.
Mechanical aptitude sufficient to operate, adjust, and troubleshoot packaging equipment and assist in running the line if needed.
Strong organizational and planning skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally, especially with Maintenance, to achieve production goals.
Ability to read, write, and interpret documents and speak effectively before groups.
Proficiency in Spanish is a plus.
Other Relevant Information
On-site 5 days a week, Monday through Friday, dayshift.
