Network & Systems Administrator
Powering Communities. Supporting Technology. Keeping Us Connected.
At Cuivre River Electric Cooperative, technology plays a critical role in everything we do, from keeping our employees connected to supporting the systems that help us safely and reliably serve our members.
We're looking for a Network & Systems Administrator who enjoys solving problems, keeping systems running smoothly, and staying one step ahead in an ever-changing technology environment.
This isn't a role where you'll spend every day doing the same thing. You'll work across our network, servers, security systems, workstations, and infrastructure while partnering closely with our IT and cybersecurity teams. If you like variety, enjoy troubleshooting, and want to see the direct impact of your work, this could be a great fit.
What You'll Do
As our Network & Systems Administrator, you'll help maintain a secure, reliable, and efficient technology environment across the Cooperative.
You'll:
Administer and maintain network hardware, software, servers, and workstations.
Manage Cisco switching and routing hardware and software.
Help administer Palo Alto next-generation firewalls and maintain firewall configurations.
Support our multi-site Wi-Fi network.
Help administer our Windows Server environment, including Active Directory, Microsoft SQL Server, and Microsoft Exchange.
Support VMware vSphere and clustered storage systems.
Establish and maintain user accounts, permissions, and network security.
Work closely with our Cybersecurity Analyst to support network and cybersecurity initiatives.
Troubleshoot software, network, and system issues and provide backup support to our helpdesk and system support team.
Support employees with technology questions, software installations, and troubleshooting.
Maintain clear and comprehensive system documentation.
Participate in the IT team's on-call rotation for occasional after-hours issues.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who knows technology but also knows how to work with people.
Our ideal candidate is proactive, adaptable, curious, and comfortable taking ownership. You should be able to troubleshoot independently while also working closely with other members of the IT team and employees throughout the Cooperative.
You'll ideally bring:
An associate degree in Information Technology or a related field; relevant experience may substitute for education.
Approximately five years of IT/network experience, including experience managing Cisco-based networks.
Experience administering Windows Servers, Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange, and Microsoft SQL Server.
Experience working in a virtualized environment such as VMware, Hyper-V, or Citrix.
Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, routing, NAT, DNS, and SNMP.
Experience with scripting or automation tools such as PowerShell, Python, VBScript, or batch scripting.
Experience with Palo Alto firewalls is preferred.
Active Cisco certifications are a plus.
Just as important, you'll need strong communication skills and the ability to explain technology to people with different levels of technical knowledge.
Why Cuivre River?
At Cuivre River Electric Cooperative, your work has a purpose beyond keeping technology running. Our employees support the infrastructure that provides safe and reliable electricity to the communities we serve.
You'll join a team where you can make an impact, continue developing your skills, and work with technology across a broad IT environment rather than being limited to one narrow area.
This is an in-person position with occasional travel to our nearby branch office, field locations, and training opportunities. The position also participates in an on-call rotation and may occasionally be called upon during outages or emergencies.
A valid Missouri driver's license is required. The position may require lifting equipment weighing up to 50 pounds and occasional climbing, bending, lifting, or work in field environments.
If you're looking for an IT role where you can solve real problems, work with a great team, and see the impact of what you do-we'd like to hear from you.
Cuivre River Electric Cooperative is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
