Job Description
The Production Scheduler plays a critical role in the manufacturing and supply chain sector by balancing customer demand with factory capacity. They are responsible for designing, organizing, and monitoring production schedules to ensure goods are manufactured efficiently, safely, and delivered on time. By acting as the central hub of information, they translate sales forecasts and customer orders into actionable daily, weekly, and monthly operational plans.
Reports to: Production Manager
Responsibilities:
Schedule Creation: Build and maintain daily, weekly, and master production schedules based on sales forecasts and customer demand
Document schedule changes and coordinate recovery plan with Production Manager
Material Planning: Monitor raw material inventory, verify component readiness, and coordinate with purchasing to prevent stockouts or shortages
Manage finished goods inventory
Coordinate cycle counts
Capacity Analysis: Evaluate plant capacity, machine availability, and labor resources to ensure realistic production workflows
Workflow Coordination: Route assemblies to specific workstations and sequence work orders to optimize shop floor efficiency
Problem Solving: Identify production bottlenecks, analyze root causes, and re-sequence schedules when delays or equipment failures occur
Cross-Functional Communication: Collaborate with plant supervisors, sales, engineering, and warehouse teams to report delivery timelines and status updates
Follow approved revisions and QA/QC holds - QA/QC Manager retains day-to-day ISO 9001 responsibility
Reporting: Generate schedule-based performance reports regarding output, shipment plans and adherence to manufacturing goals
Educational Qualifications and Experience
Degree with 5 years of manufacturing experience or
Associate degree with 7 years of experience or
High School diploma with 10 years of experience
Proficiency in ALERE or similar ERP/MRP systems, Excel, AI-Integration
