Senior/ Staff Platform engineer

Virginia / Remote\n Ad-hoc short-notice access to Herndon, VA required\n US Citizenship Required\n \n We’re hiring a Senior / Staff Platform Engineer to help extend a production AI platform into highly secure US Government environments and support the growth of a US technical team.\n \n This is not a generic DevOps or CI/CD role.

We’re looking for a hands-on engineer who has personally built, deployed and operated production cloud and Kubernetes infrastructure.\n Experience with GovCloud, FedRAMP, defence, national security or other highly regulated environments is a major advantage.\n \n What You’ll Do\n\n Own and improve production Kubernetes and cloud infrastructure\n Build and maintain infrastructure as code and repeatable deployment patterns\n Work across provisioning, deployment, security, reliability and operations\n Adapt an existing platform for US Government and highly secure environments\n Make technical decisions across infrastructure and deployment\n Help establish technical capability as the US team grows\n Remain hands-on while acting as a senior technical reference point\n\n \n What We’re Looking For\n\n Strong experience owning production Kubernetes infrastructure\n Hands-on cloud engineering across AWS, Azure, GCP or comparable platforms\n Strong Infrastructure as Code experience with Terraform, OpenTofu, Pulumi or equivalent\n Evidence of personally building, deploying and operating production infrastructure\n Strong understanding of infrastructure security and reliability\n Ability to work autonomously as a senior individual contributor\n\n \n Highly Valuable Experience\n\n AWS GovCloud or similar government cloud environments\n FedRAMP\n US Government deployments\n Defence or national-security technology\n Classified, disconnected or highly regulated environments\n\n \n An existing security clearance is helpful but not required.\n \n Security Requirements\n Candidates must:\n\n Be a US citizen\n Be eligible to obtain a US Government security clearance\n\n \n Location: Primarily remote, with Virginia-based candidates strongly preferred.\n \n You must be able to reach the Herndon, Virginia area at short notice when required.\n \n Compensation\n\n $140,000 – $200,000 base salary\n Up to 25% annual bonus\n\n \n Why This Role?\n You’ll work on infrastructure supporting AI systems where security, reliability, sovereignty and deployment constraints genuinely matter.\n \n This is a high-ownership opportunity spanning cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, secure deployment and operational architecture while helping shape a growing US engineering capability.
