Job Description

Join a mechanical testing laboratory as a Technician where you will perform mechanical tests in accordance with applicable codes and standards, working closely with engineers and other technicians to support a wide range of research and development projects in welding and related technologies.

Responsibilities

Follow specific and general instructions from engineers and other technicians to set up and perform mechanical tests in accordance with applicable codes and standards.

Maintain accurate, complete, and legible records of mechanical testing setups, procedures, and results to ensure traceability and compliance.

Interact regularly with engineers and external customers to clarify requirements and deliver testing results in a timely and professional manner.

Collaborate closely with other team members to plan, coordinate, and execute mechanical testing operations efficiently.

Operate and monitor mechanical and hydraulic equipment safely and effectively during testing activities.

Use basic computer operations and data acquisition software to record, monitor, and analyze test data.

Maintain a clean, organized, and presentable work area to support safe and efficient lab operations.

Apply basic welding knowledge and skills, when needed, to support test setups and related lab activities.

Support testing and maintenance activities involving mechanical systems, robotics, welding equipment, CNC machinery, PLC-controlled systems, and Fanuc-controlled equipment as required.

Essential Skills

High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience working with mechanical and hydraulic equipment.

Familiarity with basic computer operations, including data entry and file management.

Experience using data acquisition software to collect and monitor test data.

Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate and legible records.

Ability to follow detailed instructions from engineers and technicians and apply applicable codes and standards.

Effective communication skills to interact with engineers, team members, and external customers.

Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented lab environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Welding skills and knowledge, including basic welding processes and safety practices.

Exposure to robotics and robotic systems used in manufacturing or testing environments.

Experience with welding equipment and welding technology in an industrial or lab setting.

Background in maintenance or technician roles supporting mechanical or industrial equipment.

Familiarity with CNC maintenance and operation in a manufacturing or testing context.

Experience with PLC troubleshooting and working with automated control systems.

Knowledge of Fanuc control systems and their use in robotic or CNC applications.

Work Environment

This role is based in a manufacturing lab environment that is climate controlled to provide a comfortable and consistent workspace. You will work on a variety of project-based assignments, often involving mechanical and hydraulic equipment, welding technology, robotics, CNC machinery, PLC-controlled systems, and Fanuc-controlled equipment. The lab emphasizes cleanliness and organization, and you will be expected to maintain a neat and presentable work area while following standard safety practices appropriate for a technical laboratory setting.Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Columbus, OH.Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $32.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
