About the Role

MARMAX TRANSPORT PTY LTD is seeking a reliable and experienced Cook to join our team in Redbank, Queensland.

The successful applicant will be responsible for preparing and cooking meals, maintaining food quality and hygiene standards, managing food preparation activities and assisting with the smooth operation of the kitchen.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and cook a variety of meals according to established recipes and procedures.

Prepare ingredients including meat, poultry, vegetables and other food products.

Ensure meals are prepared and presented consistently and to a high standard.

Follow recipes, portion sizes and food preparation requirements.

Check the quality and freshness of ingredients before use.

Assist with daily meal planning and food preparation.

Monitor food and kitchen supply levels and advise management of shortages.

Assist with receiving, checking and storing food deliveries.

Maintain appropriate food storage and temperature controls.

Minimise food wastage through effective preparation and portion control.

Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of food preparation and cooking areas.

Clean and maintain kitchen equipment, utensils and work surfaces.

Follow food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety procedures.

Work efficiently during busy periods and ensure meals are prepared within required timeframes.

Coordinate with other kitchen staff to maintain smooth food service.

Report equipment faults, stock shortages and other kitchen issues to management.

Assist with general kitchen duties as required.

Skills and Experience

The successful applicant will ideally have:

Previous experience working as a Cook in a commercial kitchen.

Knowledge of food preparation and cooking techniques.

Ability to follow recipes and maintain consistent food quality.

Understanding of food safety and hygiene requirements.

Ability to work efficiently in a busy environment.

Good organisational and time-management skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Strong attention to cleanliness and food presentation.

Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays when required.

Qualifications

A Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or a related qualification will be highly regarded.

Relevant commercial cooking experience may also be considered.
