Waitperson

Daulats Delights Pty Ltd is looking for an enthusiastic, dependable and customer-oriented Waitperson to join our hospitality team in Edge Hill, Cairns, Queensland.

The successful candidate will play an important role in delivering a positive dining experience by providing professional table service, accurately taking customer orders, serving meals and beverages, maintaining clean dining areas and supporting the smooth day-to-day operation of the restaurant.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The Waitperson will be responsible for:

Welcoming customers in a friendly and professional manner and assisting them throughout their dining experience.

Providing menus and explaining available meals, beverages and menu options where required.

Taking accurate food and beverage orders from customers.

Relaying customer orders clearly and promptly to kitchen and relevant service staff.

Serving meals and beverages efficiently while maintaining professional presentation and service standards.

Monitoring tables during service and attending to customer requests in a timely manner.

Responding to customer questions, requests and minor concerns professionally and courteously.

Operating the point-of-sale system and accurately processing customer payments.

Preparing, setting and clearing tables before, during and after service.

Keeping dining areas, service stations and customer areas clean, organised and presentable.

Assisting with the preparation of the restaurant and dining areas before commencement of service.

Maintaining high standards of personal hygiene, food-handling practices and workplace cleanliness.

Following applicable food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety procedures.

Supporting kitchen and front-of-house team members when required to maintain efficient service.

Restocking service items, utensils, condiments and other supplies as required.

Assisting with restaurant opening and closing procedures.

Working calmly and efficiently during busy periods while maintaining a high standard of customer service.

Contributing positively to the restaurant team and supporting the overall customer experience.

Qualifications and Experience

The preferred candidate will have:

Previous experience working as a Waitperson, Food and Beverage Attendant, Restaurant Attendant or in a similar hospitality role.

A Certificate III in Hospitality, Food and Beverage Service, or another relevant hospitality qualification, which will be highly regarded.

Previous experience providing table service in a restaurant, café or similar hospitality environment.

Demonstrated experience taking customer orders accurately and communicating effectively with kitchen and service staff.

Experience serving food and beverages in accordance with professional hospitality standards.

Familiarity with POS systems, cash handling and processing customer payments.

A sound understanding of food safety, hygiene and workplace safety requirements.

Experience maintaining clean, organised and well-presented dining and service areas.

The ability to remain organised and provide efficient service during busy periods.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Experience responding appropriately to customer enquiries and service-related concerns.

The ability to work cooperatively as part of a front-of-house and hospitality team.

A reliable and professional approach to work.

Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and public holidays where required.

What We Offer

Full-time employment

Annual salary of $65,000 – $75,000 plus superannuation, depending on qualifications and relevant experience
