Production Manager

Job Description

Position Summary: Responsible for maintaining and optimizing the fabrication and distribution processes. The Production Manager will plan, direct, and coordinate the production activities of the plant. The Production Manager is accountable for implementing and executing strategies which achieve optimum safety, quality, service, productivity, and profitability. They will maintain the following responsibilities, either personally or, through subordinate supervisors and subordinate connections:

Responsibilities and Duties:

Advance initiatives that promote and sustain the safety, health, security, and welfare of all employees.

Maintain safe, clean, orderly (5s) and environmentally compliant production operations.

Inclusive oversight of all production and production support activities of the facility ensuring all are conducted in accordance with Company policies, principles, procedures, values, and standards.

Persistently assess current strategies, systems, procedures, performance, capabilities, equipment, facilities, and employees for opportunities to optimize safety, flow, service, quality, and profitability.

Provide technical recommendations and implementation for continuous improvement in plant production process.

Proactively conference and collaborate with customers, sales, and internal/external support resources to evaluate, develop, and promote strategies designed to improve service, flow, quality, and product value.

Perform supervisory responsibilities including interviewing, training, planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Willingly undertake and perform other duties and tasks as assigned.

Will have supervisors and lead personnel as well as the hourly production workforce as direct reports.

Assists Production and Quality Assurance departments in start-ups, operator training, and trouble-shooting process problems.

Maintains and establishes process parameters based on the build requirements of the project.

Makes improvement suggestions to Plant Manager for new and existing tools for better process capabilities.

Keeps accurate records of cycle sheets, process change logs.

Fills in for the Plant Manager when needed.

All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience:

Lean Certification or the ability to become certified through an accredited organization preferred.

Bilingual, English/Spanish preferred.

A minimum of 5 years of related experience and/or training in a manufacturing environment or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience in a manufacturing environment utilizing TQM, ISO, Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma is preferred.

Proven technical leadership with the ability to utilize structured problem-solving methods to deliver results.

Demonstrated competence to work with minimum supervision effectively with all levels in the organization.

Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels of the organization.

Proficient in Microsoft Office, with the willingness and ability to learn new systems.

Intermediate ability to communicate both verbally and in writing to a wide range of audiences.

Advanced reasoning ability: carry out written or oral instructions and problem solve.

Advanced ability to assist all departments and staff to adhere to prescribed processes for efficient and consistent administration of processing functions.

Proficient in Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Knowledge of applicable regulations, safety standards, and best practices in logistics and transportation.

Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree preferred, preferably in engineering.
