The Finance Controllership Officer is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records, maintaining compliance with accounting standards and company policies, and providing timely financial reports to support business decisions. In a retail environment, the role focuses on inventory accounting, sales reconciliation, cost control, budgeting, and financial analysis across store operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Ensure accurate recording of all financial transactions in accordance with accounting standards.
Monitor daily sales, cash collections, and bank reconciliations.
Oversee inventory accounting, stock adjustments, and shrinkage analysis.
Conduct financial analysis and provide recommendations to improve profitability.
Prepare budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis reports.
Ensure compliance with tax regulations, government reporting requirements, and internal controls.
Coordinate internal and external audits and implement audit recommendations.
Monitor operating expenses and identify opportunities for cost savings.
Review and strengthen financial processes and internal control procedures.
Collaborate with operations, merchandising, warehouse, and other departments to improve financial performance.
Supervise and develop the finance and accounting team, when applicable.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accountancy, Accounting Technology, Finance, or a related field.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is preferred.
At least 3–5 years of relevant experience in finance, accounting, or controllership, preferably in the retail industry.
Experience in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls.
Strong understanding of inventory accounting and retail financial operations.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and ERP or accounting systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, NetSuite, or similar).
