Substitute Teacher

Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Substitute Teacher role located in Oxnard, CA. The Substitute Teacher will provide classroom instruction and supervision in the absence of the regular teacher, following established lesson plans and adapting activities as needed to meet student learning goals. Responsibilities include maintaining a positive, safe, and respectful classroom environment; delivering lessons across various subject areas and grade levels; taking attendance; and managing student behavior in accordance with district policies. The role involves communicating with school staff to understand daily expectations, accessing instructional materials, and reporting on student progress and classroom activities. The Substitute Teacher is expected to model professionalism, support school-wide initiatives, and contribute to a culture of equity and academic excellence.

Qualifications

Strong Teaching and Education skills, with the ability to support learning across high school grade levels and diverse subject areas.

Experience or ability in Lesson Planning and Training, including following and implementing existing plans and adjusting instruction to student needs.

Effective Communication skills for interacting with students, staff, and families, and for delivering clear, engaging instruction.

Ability to manage classrooms, maintain student safety, and apply district behavior and academic policies consistently.

Valid California teaching credential or substitute permit (or eligibility to obtain), and compliance with all state and district background and clearance requirements.

Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and supporting students from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.

Flexibility to work across different school sites, subjects, and schedules within the District.

Previous classroom or youth supervision experience in educational settings is preferred.
