Setting: Inpatient postpartum unit with family-centered care

Orientation: 36 hours

Job Requirements

Minimum 2 years of postpartum nursing experience

Valid RN license in hand at time of submission

BLS certification required

NRP certification required

IV start skills and IV certification required

Experience with labor & delivery (L&D) and postpartum care

Experience using EPIC preferred

Ability to pass an EKG/telemetry interpretation exam prior to start

Comfort working in a travel nurse assignment with floating as needed

Two professional references required, including one from a manager, director, or supervisor

Responsibilities

Provide high-quality care to postpartum patients, healthy newborns, and NAS infants

Support vaginal delivery recovery and C-section postpartum care

Perform assessments, newborn care, discharge teaching, and patient education

Administer medications and therapies including IV antibiotics, magnesium sulfate, insulin drips, and pitocin as ordered

Monitor fundus, lochia, perineum, incision sites, and overall postpartum recovery

Care for mothers and infants with conditions such as preeclampsia, wound infection, and postpartum hemorrhage

Assist with breastfeeding education, circumcision care teaching, and newborn thermoregulation

Interpret telemetry as required and support safe patient monitoring

Float to similar-acuity units within the organization as needed

Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to deliver compassionate, family-centered care
