Summary of Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

We are seeking a reliable and motivated Courier to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for picking up and delivering mail from the United States Postal Service to the Virginia Department of Social Services efficiently and safely. Also, deliveries to the bank on behalf of the Department of Social Services. This role requires strong attention to detail, excellent driving skills, maturity and the ability to be flexible per the needs of the business. As a Courier, you will be working closely with the Virginia Department of Social Services and therefore ensuring timely deliveries while maintaining the highest standards of service.

Essential Job Functions

Experience in delivery driving and customer service

Clean driving record

Completes daily post office and bank pick up route in a timely manner

Safely operate company vehicle and obey all traffic laws, evaluate traffic patterns, alternative routes, and weather conditions as needed

Requires knowledge of or ability to learn geographic area

Ability to handle physical workload (tubs and trays of mail) and able to lift packages (up to 50 lbs.) and be able to get in and out of a van multiple times throughout the day with or without reasonable accommodation

Assist in company duties as needed, including day to day operations (in store)

Independent problem solver who is dependable and mature

Safely operate delivery vehicles, including vans and box trucks, to transport goods to designated locations

Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers regarding delivery schedules and any potential delays

Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including pick-up and drop-off times, as well as any special instructions.

Perform routine vehicle inspections and maintenance checks to ensure safe operation

Skills

Proven experience as a Courier or in a similar delivery role

Strong driving skills with a valid driver's license; experience operating vans and box trucks is preferred

Requirements

Must be at least 21 years of age with a valid driver's license

Must have 2 years of driving experience

Ability to effectively communicate in English (Bilingual candidates are welcome to apply)

Must be willing to undergo a background, motor vehicle and drug screening

Licensing/Certification

Valid state Driver's License (required)

Education

High School/GED (required)

Work Experience

Previous courier experience (preferred)
