Senior Horizontal Directional Drill (HDD) Operator

Location: Columbus, OH (local projects in the Columbus, Cincinnati, and Dayton areas)

Pay: $40–$48 per hour, based on experience. Top of the range goes to operators with 10+ years.

Congruex is a large utility and telecom construction company that builds fiber and underground networks across the U.S. We are growing in Ohio and need experienced drill operators who can lead the rig and get jobs done right the first time.

What You'll Do

Run horizontal directional drill rigs (Vermeer, Ditch Witch, American Augers, or similar) for fiber and utility installs

Read and follow work prints, locates, and bore plans

Plan bore paths and set drill angles, depth, and pullback

Work with the locator to hit targets and stay clear of existing utilities

Mix and manage drilling fluid for different soil and rock conditions

Do daily checks and basic maintenance on the drill and support equipment

Train and guide less experienced crew members

Follow all safety rules, including 811 locate requirements and traffic control

What You Need

10+ years running horizontal directional drill rigs

Proven experience in fiber, telecom, gas, or electric underground construction

Ability to read prints and bore plans

Strong safety record

Valid driver's license and reliable transportation

Able to work outdoors in all weather and lift 50+ lbs

Nice to Have

CDL Class A

Rock drilling experience

Experience running excavators, vacuum trucks, or other support equipment

OSHA 10 or OSHA 30
