Position Summary
Kid's Thrive Southern Columbus is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and engaging Outpatient Group Facilitator to join our daytime team. This position supports children and adolescents participating in outpatient behavioral health programming by facilitating structured groups and activities in a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment.
The Outpatient Group Facilitator works collaboratively with clinical and support staff to encourage participation, reinforce positive behaviors, and help youth develop practical emotional, social, communication, and coping skills.
Key Responsibilities
Facilitate structured outpatient groups for children and adolescents.
Establish a safe, welcoming, respectful, and supportive group environment.
Lead age-appropriate activities focused on coping skills, emotional regulation, communication, social skills, problem-solving, and positive decision-making.
Encourage participation and meaningful engagement from group members.
Build appropriate professional relationships with children and adolescents.
Monitor group dynamics and respond appropriately to behavioral or emotional concerns.
Model and reinforce healthy communication, cooperation, and conflict-resolution skills.
Help participants identify and practice positive coping strategies.
Follow established treatment plans, program procedures, safety protocols, and organizational policies.
Observe participant behavior and communicate relevant information to the appropriate clinical team members.
Complete required documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
Collaborate with therapists, case managers, behavioral health professionals, families, and other members of the care team as appropriate.
Maintain confidentiality and protect participant privacy.
Assist with maintaining a clean, organized, and therapeutic group environment.
Participate in staff meetings, training, supervision, and professional development.
Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by program leadership.
Qualifications
Required
High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience working with children, adolescents, families, education, social services, behavioral health, or a related population.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to establish appropriate professional relationships with youth.
Ability to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality.
Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Reliable attendance and punctuality.
Ability to remain calm, patient, and professional when responding to challenging behaviors or situations.
Preferred
Associate's or bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, behavioral health, education, child development, human services, or a related field.
Previous experience facilitating groups.
Experience working with children or adolescents experiencing emotional, behavioral, or social challenges.
Experience in outpatient behavioral health, community mental health, schools, residential treatment, or youth-serving programs.
Training or experience in crisis intervention, behavioral de-escalation, or therapeutic group facilitation.

Typical Day-to-Day Responsibilities
The Outpatient Group Facilitator may:
Prepare materials and activities for scheduled groups.
Welcome participants and establish group expectations.
Facilitate structured group sessions.
Support transitions between activities.
Monitor participation and group dynamics.
Reinforce appropriate behaviors and healthy coping strategies.
Provide relevant observations to the clinical team.
Complete required daily documentation.
Participate in team communication and program activities.
Work Environment
This is a full-time daytime position located at Kid's Thrive Southern Columbus in Southern Columbus, Ohio.
The position involves frequent interaction with children and adolescents and may require standing, walking, participating in activities, and responding appropriately to routine behavioral or emotional situations.
