Travel Mother/Baby Registered Nurse (RN) – Postpartum Contract in Columbus, Ohio
Join a family-centered postpartum unit as a Mother/Baby Registered Nurse (RN) in Columbus, Ohio. This 13-week travel nursing assignment offers the opportunity to care for postpartum patients, healthy newborns, and infants requiring additional support while collaborating with a multidisciplinary healthcare team. Travel Nursing Job Details
Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,830–$1,930
Assignment Type: Travel nursing contract
Start Date: November 2, 2026
Assignment Duration: 13 weeks, ending February 1, 2027
Schedule: 3 shifts per week
Shift Duration: 12-hour day shifts, approximately 7:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m.
Hours: 36 hours per week
Healthcare Setting: 40-bed inpatient postpartum unit providing family-centered care to women and infants
Patient Population: Postpartum adults, healthy newborns, and neonates requiring specialized support
Weekend Coverage: Weekend shifts may be required
Orientation: 36 hours
Floating: May float to units with similar patient acuity and antepartum care needs
Mother/Baby Registered Nurse Job Requirements
Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Ohio or a valid compact-state license in hand at the time of submission
At least 2 years of recent postpartum or Mother/Baby nursing experience
Labor and delivery nursing experience
Current BLS certification
IV certification and demonstrated IV-start skills
EPIC electronic medical record experience
Telemetry interpretation proficiency and successful completion of an EKG assessment before the start of the assignment
Education from an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited nursing program
Ability to provide two professional references, including at least one reference from a supervisor, manager, director, or other formal leader
Strong communication, organization, patient education, and family education skills
Postpartum and Newborn Nursing Responsibilities
Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to postpartum patients and newborns
Care for patients following vaginal and cesarean deliveries, including postpartum readmissions for conditions such as wound infection and preeclampsia
Perform comprehensive maternal and newborn assessments, including fundus, lochia, perineal, incision, and pain assessments
Monitor and manage postpartum hemorrhage, pregnancy-induced hypertension, magnesium sulfate therapy, Pitocin, and other postpartum therapies
Assess and care for newborns experiencing hypoglycemia, low birth weight, neonatal abstinence syndrome, or other specialized needs
Support breastfeeding, breast-pump use, newborn thermoregulation, cord care, circumcision care, and parent-infant bonding
Initiate and maintain IV access, administer medications and IV antibiotics, and safely manage blood products as ordered
Provide discharge teaching and education related to maternal recovery, newborn care, feeding, warning signs, and follow-up needs
Interpret telemetry and recognize changes in patient condition, escalating concerns promptly through the appropriate clinical channels
Collaborate with IV teams, pharmacy, social services, physical therapy, interpretation services, rapid response teams, and unit support staff
