Job SummaryWe are currently seeking an Electronics and Electrical System Design Engineer.

This position is a full-time opportunity located in Columbus, OH.The selected individual will join a team responsible for designing complex, advanced-technology electronic and electromechanical systems for government and industry customers.

The ideal candidate is self-motivated, capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously, and eager to contribute across a diverse portfolio of projects.

Onsite work is required for the first 6–9 months, with the potential for a hybrid schedule in the future, dependent on customer contract requirements.Professional growth in this role extends beyond technical skills and will include contributing to proposal efforts, building relationships with internal clients, participating in IR&D studies, and supporting business development activities led by others.ResponsibilitiesAs an Electronics and Electrical System Design Engineer, the selected individual will design and develop advanced electronic systems for government and industry clients.

Responsibilities may include:Interpret, research, and understand design requirements; generate block diagrams and concept designsCreate circuit board schematics, review PCB layouts, and generate CCA documentationGenerate and debug firmware code for microprocessors used in embedded systemsPerform calculations and simulations to predict system performancePerform trade studies for component identification and selectionCreate wiring diagrams and wire harness drawingsPerform testing, debug and resolve errors using standard electrical laboratory equipmentReverse engineer electronic systems to support analysis and redesign effortsWrite test plan documents and support technicians with test setup constructionLead team efforts toward a common goal, maintaining commitment to quality results within schedule and budget constraintsCreate summary presentations and technical reports; generate documentation including technical manuals and proceduresProvide expertise and support for designs post-deliveryKey QualificationsBachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BS EE) or Computer Engineering (BS CE) from an ABET-accredited ECE program with a minimum of 5 years of demonstrated experience (relevant research, internship, and co-op experience counts toward total); OR Bachelor's degree in a related field with 8 years of experience; OR Master's degree in a related field with 5 years of experience; OR PhD in a related field with 2 years of experienceDemonstrated mastery of electrical engineering fundamentals with a strong analytical approach to problem solving and self-motivation to learn on the jobDemonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Visio, Excel, PowerPoint, and WordExcellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skillsMust be a US Citizen and must be willing to obtain and maintain a government TS/SCI security clearancePreferred QualificationsExperience with embedded systems design, programming, and troubleshootingHands-on mechanical and electrical experience with standard tools and methods (soldering, crimping, hand tools, lab and field debugging, etc.)Experience with high voltage systemsExperience with microelectronics circuit design, fabrication, and RF system design and modelingAbility to collaborate across technical disciplines to solve complex, multifaceted problemsCompensation DataBattelle is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices.

The salary range for this role is $105,000 – $150,000 per year, in addition to our comprehensive benefits package.
