Field Operations Superintendent – Schaumburg, IL

$85,000 - $95,000/Annually

Position Summary

The Field Operations Superintendent is responsible for overseeing day-to-day field operations, construction execution, and quality control across active client projects. This role provides hands-on leadership through regular site visits, quality inspections, crew oversight, safety enforcement, and project coordination.

The Superintendent ensures projects are executed according to approved plans and specifications, completed safely and efficiently, and delivered in a manner that supports strong client satisfaction and financial performance.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Crew & Field Team Leadership

Lead, supervise, and develop construction personnel and field crews.

Establish clear expectations for performance, productivity, quality, safety, and professionalism.

Conduct regular team meetings to review active projects, priorities, performance, and operational challenges.

Assist with recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, and training construction personnel and trade partners.

Coordinate daily field staffing and assignments based on project requirements.

Monitor timekeeping and ensure field personnel maintain accurate records.

Maintain accurate project and field documentation using company systems.

Conduct pre-construction site assessments to identify site conditions, potential challenges, and installation considerations.

Coordinate tools, equipment, materials, and other resources required for successful project execution.

Project Preparation & Field Execution

Review project plans, drawings, schedules, specifications, and installation requirements before work begins.

Coordinate project starts with field crews and ensures teams understand scope, schedule, materials, and special project requirements.

Represent the company professionally during project launches and client interactions.

Coordinate delivery and placement of required materials, equipment, signage, permits, tools, and other job-site resources.

Monitor active projects through regular site visits and quality inspections.

Verify that work is progressing according to approved plans, specifications, safety requirements, and company standards.

Document project progress through photographs, inspection reports, and other required documentation.

Maintain clean, organized, and professional job sites.

Identify field issues early and coordinate timely solutions with crews, clients, vendors, and management.

Escalate significant scope, cost, schedule, or quality issues to the appropriate member of management before corrective work is authorized.

Quality Control & Project Completion

Perform ongoing quality-control inspections throughout the construction process.

Identify deficiencies and work with crews to correct issues before project completion.

Conduct final project inspections and verify that required work has been completed according to company standards.

Review outstanding punch-list items with field personnel and coordinate completion.

Ensure project sites are properly cleaned and returned to the expected condition at completion.

Coordinate the return and organization of company equipment, tools, excess materials, and other reusable resources.

Support completion of approved service and warranty work within established timelines.

Operational Support

Monitor inventory of commonly used materials, tools, and equipment.

Help maintain organized field resources to support efficient project execution.

Participate in process-improvement initiatives designed to improve quality, productivity, safety, and client satisfaction.

Provide regular updates to management regarding project status, field conditions, staffing, and operational concerns.

Assist with company-sponsored marketing, community, or industry events as needed.

Qualifications & Skills

Education & Experience

2–4 years of experience supervising field personnel, construction crews, or project operations.

Experience coordinating multiple active projects or work sites.

Hands-on construction, trade, remodeling, or related field experience preferred.

Formal education in construction management, project management, or a related discipline is preferred but may be substituted with relevant experience.
