Payments Technical Architect

We are lookingfor an experiencedPayments Technical Architectwith 10+ yearsof hands-onexperience inJava, Spring Boot, microservices, REST APIs, Kafka, cloud technologies, Kubernetes, MuleSoft,and MQ.The ideal candidatewill have strongexperience designing andimplementing highly scalable, secure, and resiliententerprise applications,with a strongunderstanding of thepayments domain.

Key Responsibilities

Design and architectscalable, secure, andhigh-performance paymentapplicationsusingJava, Spring MVC, Spring Boot, RESTAPIs, and microservices.

Provide technical leadershipthroughout the applicationdevelopment lifecycle,from architectureand design throughimplementation and productionsupport.

Develop and integratedistributed applicationsusingKafka, MQ, MuleSoft, and REST-basedservices.

Design cloud-native solutions leveragingAWS/Azure/GCPor equivalent cloudtechnologiesand container platformssuch asKubernetes.

Work closely withbusiness, product, engineering, and architecture teamsto translate requirementsinto technical solutions.

Design solutions usingappropriatearchitectural and designpatterns to ensure scalability, maintainability, resiliency, and performance.

Develop reusable Javacomponents, frameworks,and libraries followingclean-codeand object-orientedprogramming principles.

Apply Java concurrency, multithreading, and performanceoptimization techniqueswhere required.

Design applications integratingwith relational andexternal/embedded databases.

Participate in applicationperformance analysis, troubleshooting, JVM tuning, andproduction issue resolution.

Implement automated testing, unit testing, andqualityengineering practices.

SupportCI/CDimplementation and DevOpspractices using toolssuch as Git, Maven, Gradle, andJenkinsor equivalent platforms.

Implement monitoring, logging, and troubleshooting solutionsusingSplunkand related observabilitytools.

Collaborate with Agileteams and participatein sprint planning, design discussions, codereviews, and technicaldemonstrations.

Mentor developers andprovidetechnical guidance onarchitecture, coding standards, design patterns, andbest practices.

Evaluate and adoptemerging technologies,including AI-assisteddevelopment tools suchasGitHub Copilot andClaude, where appropriate.

Payments Domain Experience

Experience working with financial services or payment-processing platforms and exposure to one or more of the following:

FedWire

CHIPS

The Clearing House(TCH)

SEPA

ACH

Real-Time Payments(RTP)

SWIFT

ISO 20022

MT messaging

Payment processing, settlement, clearing, and payment integrationsystems

Required Technical Skills

10+ years ofexperience in softwaredevelopment and technicalarchitecture.

Strong hands-onexperience withJava/J2EEand object-orientedprogramming.

Strong experience withSpring MVC andSpring Boot.

Excellent knowledge ofREST APIs andmicroservices architecture.

Hands-on experiencewithKafka and MQ.

Experience withMuleSoftor similar integrationplatforms.

Experience withKubernetes and cloudtechnologies.

Strong knowledge ofSQL and databasetechnologies.

Experience withCI/CD pipelinesand Agile developmentmethodologies

Proficiency withGitand source-codemanagement.

Experience withMaven, Gradle, orAnt.

Experience with applicationmonitoring and troubleshootingusingSplunk.
