Substitute School Nurse

School nurses within our school system may need someone to fill in for them when absent. Grayson County Schools has 7 different school campuses across the county. Fairview Elementary, Fries School (PreK-7), Independence Elementary, Grayson Highlands (PreK-7), Independence Middle, Grayson County High School and the GCHS Career and Technical Education Center are the schools where in total, over 1500 students are educated.

Job Summary: The Grayson County School Board is continually accepting applications for substitute nurses. Following school board approval, a TB test/screening, background checks (with a cost of $37.00) are required prior to being added as an active substitute for the Grayson County School System.

Qualifications: Hold current Virginia State license as a Registered Nurse, a Virginia Licensed Practical Nurse may be considered. Current certification in CPR /AED. Excellent communication skills. Knowledge of current practices for common childhood illnesses and chronic diseases.

Application Procedure: Apply Online, background checks and tuberculosis screenings are obtained following school board approval. Selection Procedure: Principals (or building administrator) has the ability to approve or deny the addition of any applicant for their school. All active employees, including substitutes, require clear background results with VSP and DSS upon hire. Salary Scale: $142/day
