Research Assistant / Junior Research Assistant

Applications are invited for appointment as Research Assistant / Junior Research Assistant.

Applicants should have (i) a Bachelor’s degree or above (for Research Assistant); or a Diploma (for Junior Research Assistant) in Immunology, Virology, Biological/Biomedical Sciences, Biochemistry, or a related discipline with relevant research experience; (ii) strong organisational and time management skills; (iii) the ability to multitask and work effectively in a team; and (iv) a high level of responsibility, integrity, with a self motivated work attitude. Experience in molecular cloning, protein expression, cell culture, ELISA, flow cytometry, experimental animal models, or virus related research will be an advantage.

The appointee will support active research and day to day laboratory operations. He/she will conduct experiments independently after appropriate training. Under the supervision of the Principal Investigator and postdoctoral research staff, the appointee will be responsible for (a) performing a wide range of laboratory duties and basic molecular biology and immunology experiments, including PCR, molecular cloning, ELISA, and flow cytometry; (b) assisting with culturing, maintaining, and handling cell lines; (c) conducting microbiological sample testing and antimicrobial susceptibility assays; (d) preparing buffers, media, and laboratory reagents, including aliquoting; and (e) maintaining accurate and well organised experimental records.

Appointment will initially be made on contract basis for up to two years commencing as soon as possible, renewable subject to satisfactory performance and mutual agreement.
