Position: Inventory & Materials Resource Clerk

Responsible To: School Services Coordinator

Hourly Rate: $20.00

Work Period: 19.5 total hours per week/10 months, plus two weeks prior to start of school and two weeks after school closing

Starting Date: Immediately upon completion of on-boarding process

Title: Inventory and Materials Resource Clerk

Job Purpose Statement: Organize, order, keep inventory of and distribute the numerous learning materials, furniture and supplies that the district purchases to use in the classrooms and schools.

Supervision Received: Receives general supervision from the School Services Coordinator; works independently, establishes task priorities within general work assignment; and reports regularly on completion of assignments.

Essential Job Functions

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Oversight of the operation of the materials distribution and refurbishment center and storage facilities

Helping to coordinate the purchasing, inventorying, scheduling, and distribution of instructional materials.

Maintaining an inventory and database of replacement materials and distribution schedule

Inventory of closed elementary sections and redistribution of materials to storage or opened classrooms

Budget support and input for school and district administration

Coordinating material inventories, distribution of materials, and replacement schedules

Communicating effectively with district and school staff regarding their needs and materials usage

Organizing the materials center to ensure efficient use of space and storage of materials

Delivering occasional emergency supplies to schools; attend to occasional necessary repairs to equipment at schools

Providing reports to the Executive Directors regarding the teacher and materials database, material costs, distribution schedules, employee assignments and labor hours, as needed

Assisting staff with preparation of materials and equipment for programs, presentations, and operation of the materials center

Research bulk-item pricing in consult with Executive Directors

Organizes and facilitates the drop off and pick up of science materials to all buildings

Provides support to classroom teachers, as needed, regarding science materials

Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of modern office equipment. Ability to acquire a working knowledge of new or modified office equipment. Ability to acquire a working knowledge of Board of Education rules, policies, procedures and functions. Ability to make arithmetic computations and tabulations. Ability to understand and follow moderately complex oral and written instructions, and ability to make minor decisions in accordance with departmental policy. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other departments, employees, and the general public.

Minimum Qualifications Required: The skills and knowledge required would generally be acquired with graduation from high school and two years of responsible office or clerical experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Candidate must be a self-starter, comfortable in working independently, and capable of working under deadlines. Valid CT driver's license as well as personal vehicle.

Physical Exertion/Environmental Conditions: Performs duties in an office/school environment. Generally, is on feet most of the working day. Some degree of stress in meeting deadlines and organizing workload within time constraints. The employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is required to stand, walk and reach with hands and arms. Candidate must be able to lift, carry, push and pull boxes and materials that can be up to 50 pounds on a regular basis. The employee must be comfortable climbing a step stool to retrieve and place boxes and materials. Specific vision capabilities required by this job include close vision and depth perception. Regular attendance is required to successfully perform the duties of this position.

Work Year: 10 months following the school calendar, including two weeks prior to school opening and two weeks after school closing.

Schedule: 19.5 hours/week. Candidates must be willing to work a flexible schedule.
