NW Recruitment Services Ltd are exclusively supporting an established construction supply business based in Blackburn with the recruitment of an experienced HGV Class 2 HIAB Driver to provide additional flexible support.

This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced driver looking for part-time, ad hoc or additional hours, with work typically available across Monday and Tuesday each week.

The successful candidate will be responsible for operating an HGV Class 2 vehicle fitted with HIAB / brick grab equipment, delivering building and construction materials safely and efficiently to customer properties and project sites.

The business supplies materials for home renovations, improvement projects and trade customers, with the majority of deliveries made directly to customers across the local area.

Deliveries are predominantly local, with around 12-13 deliveries per full working day. Preston is typically visited once or twice per week, while Manchester deliveries are infrequent.

Key responsibilities

• Safely operate an HGV Class 2 vehicle equipped with HIAB / brick grab equipment.

• Load, transport and unload building materials and construction products.

• Safely operate the HIAB / brick grab when loading and unloading materials.

• Complete deliveries safely, accurately and professionally.

• Deliver predominantly to customers across the local area.

• Complete occasional deliveries to Preston and Manchester.

• Safely manoeuvre and position the vehicle at customer properties and delivery locations.

• Carry out daily vehicle safety checks and report any defects or maintenance requirements.

• Complete delivery paperwork and maintain accurate records where required.

• Follow all relevant UK road traffic legislation, transport regulations and company procedures.

• Work safely at customer premises and construction / project sites.

• Communicate professionally with customers, colleagues and site personnel.

• Represent the business professionally and provide a high standard of customer service.

About you

The ideal candidate will be an experienced HGV Class 2 HIAB / Grab Driver who is confident operating both the vehicle and associated lifting equipment.

This role would suit someone looking for additional work alongside another role, part-time hours, flexible working or occasional driving work.

As the majority of deliveries are made directly to consumers, you should have a professional and customer-focused approach, alongside the ability to work safely and independently.

Essential requirements

• Valid UK HGV Class 2 (Category C) licence.

• Valid Driver CPC.

• Valid HIAB / brick grab qualification or certification.

• Minimum 2 years' relevant driving experience.

• Previous experience operating a HIAB / grab truck.

• Good understanding of vehicle safety and daily vehicle checks.

• Good knowledge of UK road safety and transport regulations.

• Ability to safely handle and deliver building materials.

• Professional and customer-focused approach.

• Reliable attendance and strong work ethic.

• Ability to work independently while also being part of a wider team.
