Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor

Job Description

The Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor leads the day-to-day maintenance operations of the facility, overseeing a team of mechanics and technicians responsible for the repair, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance of production equipment, machinery, and facility systems. This role combines hands-on mechanical expertise with people leadership and project management to minimize downtime, ensure safety compliance, and support continuous production.

Position Details

Title: Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor

Shift: First-Shift - Flex as needed

Pay Type: Salaried Exempt

Pay Range: $65,000 - $85,000 (starting range, based on experience)

Key Responsibilities

Supervises, schedules, and coaches a team of maintenance mechanics and technicians across assigned shift(s).

Diagnoses and resolves complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment issues.

Develops and manages preventive maintenance (PM) programs to reduce unplanned downtime.

Leads root cause analysis on equipment failures and implements corrective actions.

Plans and manages maintenance-related capital and improvement projects, including budgeting, timelines, and contractor coordination.

Maintains inventory of spare parts, tools, and equipment; manages vendor relationships and purchasing.

Ensures compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other applicable safety and regulatory standards.

Conducts performance reviews, disciplinary actions, and training and development for maintenance staff.

Partners with Production, Engineering, and EHS teams to prioritize work orders and support production goals.

Maintains accurate maintenance records, work order logs, and equipment history using a CMMS.

Participates in emergency and off-hours callouts as needed.

Enforces plant safety programs, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and PPE requirements.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent; technical/trade school certification preferred

Associates degree or 4+ years experience in a related mechanical field

2+ years of supervisory experience

Experience in Lean Manufacturing preferred

Forklift certification preferred

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs

Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb for extended periods
