About the Opportunity\n Epiq Counsel is seeking a Construction & Facilities Contracts Counsel to support a high-volume portfolio of construction, maintenance, and capital improvement projects.

This role will partner closely with business stakeholders to drive efficient deal execution and keep a significant pipeline of active projects moving.\n \n About the Client\n Our client is a leading national supply chain and distribution organization with a large network of facilities and operational sites across the United States.

The company manages a significant portfolio of construction, maintenance, engineering, and capital improvement projects and is seeking additional legal support to help drive high-volume contracting activity.\n \n Key Details\n\n Engagement Type: Interim engagement (Epiq Counsel model) with the potential to convert to permanent employment.\n Duration: October 2026 through February/March 2027 (6–7 months), with potential to extend.\n Start Date: October 1, 2026.\n Hours: Ramping up to 40 hours/week after initial onboarding period.\n Work Model: Hybrid; 2–3 days/week on-site in the Austin, TX area (alternatively, remote with ability to travel to Austin one week every other month).\n Client Exposure: Direct interaction with senior legal leadership and key business stakeholders.\n Compensation: $100/hour (approximately $208,000 annualized at 40 hours per week).\n Benefits: Healthcare, paid vacation, paid holidays, paid bar dues, and engagement support and coaching.\n\n \n Responsibilities\n Construction & Facilities Contracting\n\n Review, draft, and negotiate front-end construction, maintenance, engineering, and facilities-related agreements, including subcontractor agreements, scopes of work, proposals, bids, change orders, equipment purchase agreements, and letters of intent (LOIs).\n Analyze contractor proposals to identify scope gaps, pricing assumptions, commercial risks, and operational integration concerns before the business commits.\n Support a broad range of facilities projects, from routine maintenance and renovations to larger capital improvement initiatives.\n Prepare practical, business-focused documentation that gets projects moving while appropriately managing risk.\n Strengthen the contract templates and forms the business works from, and deliver practical training on bringing company-approved terms into bid requests.\n\n \n Business Partnership & Deal Execution\n\n Serve as a trusted advisor to facilities and project stakeholders throughout the contracting lifecycle.\n Gather and assess project requirements, identify key issues early, and help stakeholders navigate contracting challenges.\n Drive matters to resolution with a proactive, solutions-oriented approach.\n Communicate effectively with stakeholders, provide timely updates, and help reduce contracting bottlenecks in a fast-paced environment.\n\n \n Qualifications\n\n JD and active U.S.

law license in good standing.\n 8+ years of legal experience, with significant experience supporting construction, facilities, engineering, or infrastructure-related projects.\n Demonstrated experience negotiating subcontractor agreements, construction contracts, bids, proposals, scopes of work, change orders, equipment purchases, and related commercial agreements.\n Ability to assess contractual, operational, and commercial risks while maintaining a practical business perspective.\n Level-headed and persuasive with business teams — able to guide stakeholders to the right outcome rather than simply saying no.\n Execution-oriented, with a track record of closing deals and unblocking projects in a high-volume environment.\n Strong communication, negotiation, and project management skills.\n Experience drafting contract templates and business guidance materials.\n\n \n Preferred Experience\n\n In-house experience supporting organizations with substantial owned facilities footprints, including distribution, logistics, retail, industrial, healthcare, energy, or similar industries.\n Experience serving as owner-side construction counsel.\n Familiarity with engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contracts.\n Demonstrated success as a trusted advisor in a high-volume contracting environment.\n\n \n Why This Role\n This is hands-on construction contracting with a direct line to the projects it supports.
