Directly responsible to the Registration Center and Translation Services Manager and through him/her to the Superintendent of Schools
Responsible for written and oral translation of school documents, including, but not limited to:
School communication to families
Teacher/parent communication
Individual Education Plans
District-wide school messenger
Aiding administration in parent outreach
Ensures all "school to home" communications are translated appropriately.
Maintains electronic database of all translations
Aids in translation for parents registering in the Parent Outreach Center
Supports the Administrative Assistant in the Registration and Parent Outreach Center
Be flexible to attend evening parent open houses and conferences outside of regular working hours as needed
Assumes other duties as may be assigned by the Building Administrators
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Haitian Creole
Must have a valid driver's license and a reliable car to travel between schools during the work day
Qualified Tier 2 or Tier 3 Interpreter in the Education Setting preferred
High School Diploma or equivalent
Strong interpersonal skills as he or she deals directly with the public on a daily basis
Must be able to work well as part of a team
Must be self-motivated, flexible, very well organized
Required to work 10 evening events per fiscal year
Flexibility to attend additional evening events in addition to the 10 evening events required
Must be detailed oriented, with analytical and problem solving skills, along with customer service abilities and other related characteristics
Be familiar with computers and computer software programs particularly Excel and Microsoft Office including Microsoft Outlook. Ability with database programs such as Aspen are a plus. Be familiar with using the Internet
Responsible for other general duties as indicated by the Communications Coordinator, Superintendent of Schools or his/her designee
