Dillard Gulf Coast (DGC)

Freeport, Florida Full-Time Field Service

We’re Looking for a Troubleshooter

Dillard Gulf Coast is looking for a dependable, experienced Gate Service Technician for our Freeport location.

We need someone who enjoys figuring things out. This position is primarily focused on service, troubleshooting, repair, and preventative maintenance of automatic gates, gate operators, and access-control systems.

If you have direct gate service experience, we want to talk to you.

We are also currently looking for experienced Commercial Door Installers for our Tallahassee location.

What You'll Do

Diagnose, service, maintain, and repair commercial and residential automatic gate systems

Troubleshoot slide gates, swing gates, barrier arms, operators, motors, control boards, and related equipment

Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and low-voltage problems

Service and troubleshoot access-control systems, keypads, card readers, telephone entry systems, intercoms, remotes, and receivers

Diagnose and replace vehicle loops, photo eyes, safety edges, sensors, batteries, control boards, and other safety/access devices

Repair mechanical components including chains, sprockets, rollers, wheels, hinges, tracks, bearings, locks, and gate hardware

Perform low-voltage wiring, terminations, testing, and basic programming

Use a multimeter and other diagnostic tool to identify electrical and control problems

Read wiring diagrams, manufacturer manuals, work orders, and equipment documentation

Perform preventative maintenance and identify potential failures before they become larger problems

Identify required parts and clearly communicate repair recommendations

Assist with gate operator installations, system upgrades, and larger gate projects when needed

Complete accurate service notes, photos, parts used, and job documentation before leaving the job

Keep assigned company vehicle, tools, equipment, and inventory clean and organized

Communicate professionally with customers, supervisors, Sales, and Operations

Follow company and industry safety procedures, including applicable gate safety standards

What We're Looking For

Preferred experience includes:

Automatic gates and gate operators

Access control and low-voltage systems

Electrical troubleshooting

Mechanical service and repair

Field service and customer-facing work

Experience with LiftMaster, DoorKing, HySecurity, Nice, FAAC, Viking, Linear, or similar systems is a plus.

The Right Person for DGC

We are looking for someone who:

Can work independently and take ownership of a service call

Is mechanically inclined and comfortable troubleshooting electrical systems

Doesn't just replace parts — finds the actual problem

Takes pride in fixing things correctly the first time

Understands that communication and documentation are part of completing the job

Is dependable, punctual, organized, and professional

Can communicate confidently with customers

Takes care of company vehicles, tools, equipment, and materials

Is willing to learn new equipment and continue developing their skills

Works well with Operations, Sales, other technicians, and installation crews

Understands that when something isn't right, we communicate it instead of leaving it for the next person to discover

Requirements

Must be able to pass an extensive background check

Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record

Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, ladders, and diagnostic equipment

Ability to work outdoors in Florida weather and active jobsite conditions

Ability to lift and handle equipment and materials associated with gate service

Ability to read wiring diagrams and technical documentation

Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability

Professional communication and customer-service skills

Welding/fabrication experience and knowledge of UL 325 / ASTM F2200 gate safety requirements are a plus.

Why Dillard Gulf Coast?
