We’re Looking for a Troubleshooter
Dillard Gulf Coast is looking for a dependable, experienced Gate Service Technician for our Freeport location.
We need someone who enjoys figuring things out. This position is primarily focused on service, troubleshooting, repair, and preventative maintenance of automatic gates, gate operators, and access-control systems.
If you have direct gate service experience, we want to talk to you.
We are also currently looking for experienced Commercial Door Installers for our Tallahassee location.
What You'll Do
Diagnose, service, maintain, and repair commercial and residential automatic gate systems
Troubleshoot slide gates, swing gates, barrier arms, operators, motors, control boards, and related equipment
Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and low-voltage problems
Service and troubleshoot access-control systems, keypads, card readers, telephone entry systems, intercoms, remotes, and receivers
Diagnose and replace vehicle loops, photo eyes, safety edges, sensors, batteries, control boards, and other safety/access devices
Repair mechanical components including chains, sprockets, rollers, wheels, hinges, tracks, bearings, locks, and gate hardware
Perform low-voltage wiring, terminations, testing, and basic programming
Use a multimeter and other diagnostic tool to identify electrical and control problems
Read wiring diagrams, manufacturer manuals, work orders, and equipment documentation
Perform preventative maintenance and identify potential failures before they become larger problems
Identify required parts and clearly communicate repair recommendations
Assist with gate operator installations, system upgrades, and larger gate projects when needed
Complete accurate service notes, photos, parts used, and job documentation before leaving the job
Keep assigned company vehicle, tools, equipment, and inventory clean and organized
Communicate professionally with customers, supervisors, Sales, and Operations
Follow company and industry safety procedures, including applicable gate safety standards
What We're Looking For
Preferred experience includes:
Automatic gates and gate operators
Access control and low-voltage systems
Electrical troubleshooting
Mechanical service and repair
Field service and customer-facing work
Experience with LiftMaster, DoorKing, HySecurity, Nice, FAAC, Viking, Linear, or similar systems is a plus.

Works well with Operations, Sales, other technicians, and installation crews
Understands that when something isn't right, we communicate it instead of leaving it for the next person to discover
Requirements
Must be able to pass an extensive background check
Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, ladders, and diagnostic equipment
Ability to work outdoors in Florida weather and active jobsite conditions
Ability to lift and handle equipment and materials associated with gate service
Ability to read wiring diagrams and technical documentation
Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability
Professional communication and customer-service skills
Welding/fabrication experience and knowledge of UL 325 / ASTM F2200 gate safety requirements are a plus.
