Job Description

The Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) is seeking a qualified Physician to provide temporary medical services at FCI Marion in Marion, Illinois. The physician will provide direct, in-house medical care to Adults in Custody (AICs) and work collaboratively with the facility's healthcare team.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct and unsupervised medical care to Adults in Custody (AICs).

• Conduct comprehensive physical examinations and obtain medical histories.

• Perform physical assessments and evaluate patients' medical conditions.

• Diagnose and treat a variety of medical conditions.

• Order, review, and interpret appropriate diagnostic testing.

• Manage and prescribe medications as medically appropriate.

• Refer patients to specialists or hospitals when medically necessary.

• Complete accurate medical records and EMR documentation by the end of each workday.

• Communicate and coordinate patient care with the Clinical Director, Health Services Administrator (HSA), and Contracting Officer's Representative (COR).

• Follow accepted medical standards, federal and state policies, facility requirements, and applicable ACA/accreditation standards.

• Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with Privacy Act requirements and facility policies.

• Participate in required facility orientation and security training.

• Follow all FCI Marion security procedures and requirements.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Current and valid license to practice medicine.

• Documentation supporting required medical education and qualifications.

• Applicable certifications and training documentation.

• Must meet facility health requirements and be free of communicable diseases.

• May be required to provide TB or other applicable health-testing documentation.

• Ability to provide direct and unsupervised patient care in a correctional/institutional healthcare environment.

• Ability to accurately document patient care and recommendations in an electronic medical record.

• Strong communication and professional skills.

• Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with federal facility

requirements.
