Electrical Testing Technician – NETA / Commissioning – Relocation Assistance
Caroline County & Richmond, VA Tysons/Washington, DC
$30–$72/hour + Overtime Full-Time RELOCATION ASSISTANCE
EXPERIENCED ELECTRICAL TESTING AND COMMISSIONING PROFESSIONALS WANTED
We are hiring Electrical Testing & Commissioning Technicians at multiple experience levels to perform electrical acceptance testing, maintenance testing, startup, troubleshooting, and commissioning of mission-critical power systems.
NETA certification is NOT required. We are looking for candidates with hands-on electrical testing, commissioning, field service, power distribution, or related experience and a working knowledge of NETA standards and electrical testing practices.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
Perform electrical acceptance and maintenance testing on low-, medium-, and high-voltage electrical equipment
Test and commission switchgear, circuit breakers, transformers, MCCs, protective relays, and electrical distribution systems
Perform electrical startup, troubleshooting, commissioning, and field testing
Perform or assist with primary and secondary injection testing
Test and troubleshoot protective relays and electrical control systems
Perform insulation resistance, contact resistance, power factor, transformer, and related electrical tests
Read and interpret electrical drawings, one-lines, schematics, and equipment documentation
Operate electrical test equipment and accurately document test results
Identify testing issues and troubleshoot electrical equipment
Communicate testing results and findings to customers and project teams
Follow established safety procedures, including NFPA 70E and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)
Work as part of a field testing and commissioning team supporting mission-critical facilities
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Candidates should have 3–10+ years of experience in one or more of the following:
Electrical testing
Electrical commissioning
Electrical field service
Power distribution
Substation testing
Protective relay testing
Industrial electrical testing
Utility electrical testing
Data center electrical systems
Military electrical power systems
IMPORTANT EXPERIENCE
Working knowledge of NETA standards and electrical testing practices
Experience testing electrical power distribution equipment
Ability to read electrical drawings, one-lines, and schematics
Knowledge of NFPA 70E and LOTO
Ability to work safely around energized electrical equipment
TEST EQUIPMENT EXPERIENCE
Experience with one or more of the following is highly desirable:
Doble
Omicron
Megger
Vanguard
Fluke
Comparable electrical test equipment
Experience with any of the following is a strong plus:
Primary injection testing
Secondary injection testing
Protective relay testing
Insulation resistance testing
Power factor testing
Transformer testing
Circuit breaker testing
Contact resistance testing
Switchgear testing
CERTIFICATIONS
NETA certification is preferred, but NOT required.
Also valued:
NETA Level I, II, III or IV
NICET
Electrical testing certifications
Protective relay certifications
Other relevant electrical or commissioning credentials
Strong hands-on electrical testing experience can be considered in place of certification.
