Manufacturing Engineer – Weld

Location: Batesville, Indiana

About the Role

A leading healthcare manufacturer is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer – Weld to support the development, optimisation, and continuous improvement of welding and fabrication processes within a manufacturing environment. This role serves as a technical expert, helping to improve production efficiency, resolve manufacturing challenges, maintain product quality, and ensure regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Develop, optimise, and improve welding and fabrication processes to enhance quality, productivity, and cost efficiency.

Troubleshoot manufacturing issues involving product design, materials, equipment, and production processes.

Analyse production failures using root cause analysis and statistical methods, implementing corrective actions where required.

Perform non-conforming material analysis and partner with Quality teams to reduce defects.

Plan and establish fabrication, welding, painting, and plating processes to maximise manufacturing efficiency.

Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical documentation.

Design, implement, and optimise robotic welding cells and automated welding processes.

Create and maintain work instructions, standard operating procedures, and manufacturing documentation.

Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements across manufacturing operations.

Recommend design and process improvements using Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.

Provide technical leadership, support production teams, and supervise technicians as required.

Support new product introductions by developing and validating welding processes.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering or Industrial Engineering.

Minimum 2 years' experience in manufacturing or welding engineering.

Experience with Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.

Strong understanding of welding processes including GMAW, GMAW-P, GTAW, and Resistance Spot Welding (RSW).

Experience with weld validation, welding procedure specifications (WPS), and process validation (IQ, OQ, PQ).

Knowledge of robotic welding systems and automated manufacturing processes.

Proficiency with SolidWorks, Solid Edge, or AutoCAD.

Strong knowledge of engineering drawings, tooling, fabrication methods, and quality standards.

Experience leading engineering or capital improvement projects is preferred.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary: $96,000 – $132,000 per year.
