Genesis10 is currently seeking a Senior Engineer - Java / Spring Boot / React / Open Systems for a contract position with a Regional Financial Institution located in Columbus, OH. This is a contract, hybrid opportunity.
Compensation: $50.00 - $60.00 per hour, W2, based on qualifications
Position Overview:
This role involves designing, developing, testing, and deploying highly scalable enterprise applications. The ideal candidate will lead the development of full-stack applications, including RESTful APIs, microservices, and responsive React-based user interfaces, translating business requirements into secure and maintainable software solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, develop, test, deploy, and support highly scalable enterprise applications using Java, Spring Boot, React, and modern open-system technologies
Lead the development of full-stack applications, including RESTful APIs, microservices, backend services, and responsive React-based user interfaces
Translate business and technical requirements into scalable, maintainable, and secure software solutions
Design and implement cloud-ready, distributed, and service-oriented applications
Develop high-quality Java applications using Spring Boot, Spring Framework, JPA/Hibernate, and REST APIs
Build reusable and maintainable React components and integrate front-end applications with backend APIs
Participate in application architecture and technical design activities
Lead or contribute to the modernization of legacy applications into open-system, API-driven, and microservices-based architectures
Develop unit, integration, and automated tests to ensure application quality and performance
Perform code reviews and provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior and mid-level engineers
Troubleshoot complex application, integration, performance, and production issues
Collaborate with product owners, business analysts, architects, and other technology teams
Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies
Implement secure coding practices and support CI/CD pipelines
Monitor application performance and identify opportunities for improvement
Create and maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and API specifications
Stay current with emerging technologies and recommend improvements
Primary Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
7+ years of software engineering experience with enterprise application development
Strong hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot
Strong experience developing RESTful APIs and microservices
Professional experience with React, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS
Strong understanding of object-oriented programming, design patterns, data structures, and software engineering principles
Experience with relational databases and SQL, such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, or SQL Server
Experience with Git and modern source-control practices
Experience with unit testing and automated testing frameworks
Experience working in an Agile/Scrum software development environment
Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Desired Skills:
Experience designing and developing cloud-native applications using AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
Experience with microservices architecture, event-driven architecture, and distributed systems
Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and containerized application development
Experience with messaging and streaming technologies such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, or IBM MQ
Experience with CI/CD and DevOps tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab, or Azure DevOps
Experience with Spring Cloud, Spring Security, OAuth2, and JWT
Experience with TypeScript, Redux, React Query, or other modern React technologies
Experience with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, DynamoDB, or Redis
Experience with API management, API gateways, and enterprise integration patterns
Knowledge of AWS services, cloud security, observability, and application monitoring
Experience modernizing legacy applications
Experience with performance tuning, scalability, resiliency, and high-availability architectures
Experience working in financial services, banking, insurance, or other highly regulated industries
Experience providing technical leadership and mentoring engineers
Familiarity with AI-assisted software development and modern developer productivity tools
