Job Description

VanSpeag Group is sourcing high-level Maintenance Technicians for a staffing augmentation assignment supporting a manufacturing facility in Morristown, Tennessee. This is a high-priority need for technicians with strong CNC and/or forging equipment expertise to support ongoing operations across all shifts. The ideal candidate is experienced, self-sufficient, and ready to deploy quickly.

ASSIGNMENT DETAILS

● Engagement type: Staffing augmentation (contract), not direct placement

● Location: Morristown, Tennessee

● Contract length: 1–6 months, based on facility need

● Shifts: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shift openings — flexibility across shifts is a plus

● Travel: All travel included; reimbursed within 30 working days

● Local/close-area technicians must supply their own tool box

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

● Perform preventive maintenance on production equipment, machinery, and facility systems according to established schedules

● Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems to minimize downtime

● Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns and emergency repair requests on the production floor

● Read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, schematics, and equipment documentation

● Install, adjust, and calibrate manufacturing equipment and tooling

● Perform welding, fabrication, and machine shop work as needed for repairs and improvements

● Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and equipment logs in CMMS or tracking systems

● Collaborate with production teams to identify equipment issues and implement solutions

● Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability and reduce downtime

● Ensure compliance with safety regulations, lockout/tagout procedures, and company policies

● Maintain clean, organized work areas and proper tool/parts inventory

● Participate in rotating on-call schedule for emergency maintenance support

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

● Demonstrated CNC and/or forging equipment maintenance expertise

● Own tool box required for local/close-area candidates

● Minimum 3-5 years of hands-on maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment

● Strong mechanical aptitude with proven ability to troubleshoot and repair production equipment

● Working knowledge of electrical systems, PLCs, motor controls, and basic automation

● Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems, pumps, conveyors, and material handling equipment

● Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and technical documentation

● Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and diagnostic instruments

● Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision

● Willingness to work any of the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift and travel as needed for a 1–6 month assignment

● Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification

● High school diploma or equivalent required

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

● Technical degree or certification in Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, or related field

● Experience with CNC machines, robotic systems, or automated manufacturing equipment

● Advanced electrical troubleshooting skills and PLC programming experience

● Millwright or HVAC certification

● Welding certification (MIG, TIG, or Stick)

● Experience with predictive maintenance technologies (vibration analysis, thermal imaging, etc.)

● CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) experience

● Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma knowledge

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

● Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and up to 75 lbs occasionally

● Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, and around moving machinery

● Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb for extended periods

● Manual dexterity for working with small parts and precision equipment

● Ability to work in varying temperature conditions (hot/cold production environments)
