General Description
The Material Handler position will aid with all shipping and receiving requirements as well as any material handling needs. Material Handlers assist with the strapping, loading, and unloading of materials to and from company and third-party vehicles. This involves working with large materials and objects as well as ensuring all shipments are safe to travel and building items to guarantee shipments are secure.
This position will prioritize assisting the shop by moving materials in and out of the building for production purposes. Assisting with inbound and outbound materials will be a secondary priority.
Typical Monday through Friday, 1st shift schedule (6:30am–3:00pm), with possibility of overtime. Employees may be asked to work an alternate schedule such as four 10-hour shifts based on business need.
Job Duties
Collaborating with various department managers and supervisors to deliver materials for production.
Help load, unload materials and finished products to and from vehicles.
Operate fork trucks (including a telehandler) incorporating clamps, booms, lifting bars and rigging straps.
Ensure material is secure before the trucks depart.
Organize delivered materials in our lot or shop.
Assist with the documentation and inventory verification of items being shipped and received.
Correspond with supervisors and other team leads for maximum production.
Follow all safety processes and procedures, as dictated by Anderson Aluminum.
Other tasks or duties as assigned by Management, which may include assisting in various departments in the shop with production tasks.
Basic Requirements
Reliable Transportation
Authorized to work in the United States
The ability to stand for 95% of an average week.
Walking, bending, twisting, climbing, turning head and torso, crawling, reaching, flexing the arms and legs, and stooping as necessary
Lifting and carrying weights up to 75 pounds
Can read a tape measure and work with hand and power tools appropriately
Preferred Work Experience and Qualities
Operate a forklift (Telehandler experience preferred)
Construction and/or fabrication experience
Experience with power tools
Basic carpentry skills
Strong communication skills, safety minded, trustworthy and dependable, self-motivated, quality driven, committed to teamwork, willingness to learn, and great attitude
