Job Description
Substitute Teacher
QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED:
High School Diploma or equivalent required;
Previous experience working with children or in an educational setting preferred.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Ability to follow written and verbal directions and effectively implement lesson plans.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school personnel and students.
Successful completion of a Criminal Record Check (C.O.R.I.) and fingerprint check.
Reports to: Building Principal
Work Year: As needed
Salary/Benefits: $140.00 per day
Performance Responsibilities:
Follow lesson plans and instructional materials provided by the classroom teacher.
Provide instruction and support to students in accordance with the classroom teacher’s plans and established curriculum.
Maintain a safe, respectful, and productive learning environment for all students.
Take attendance and follow all school procedures related to student safety and supervision.
Supervise students in the classroom and during assigned duties, including transitions, lunch, recess, and other activities as directed.
Maintain classroom routines and expectations established by the classroom teacher.
Communicate any significant student concerns or classroom issues to the Building Principal or appropriate school personnel.
Maintain confidentiality regarding student information and school matters.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with school personnel and students.
Communicate clearly and concisely in both oral and written form.
Follow all District policies, school procedures, and applicable health and safety requirements.
Leave the classroom organized and provide the classroom teacher with information regarding the day’s activities, student participation, and any significant concerns.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Building Principal.

Ability to work in a normal classroom, office and school building environment.
Ability to move freely about the building to perform duties with staff and students.
Ability to utilize computers and other technology appropriate to the position.
Ability to perform duties requiring regular interaction and supervision of students.
