The City of Minot is accepting applications for the entry level position of Utility Operator I in the Water Distribution Department, with an application deadline of Thursday, September 24th 2026.

Nature of Work

This is manual and some semi-skilled work assisting in the installation and removal, connecting and disconnecting of water meters, maintenance and repair of lift station buildings, grounds and equipment, maintenance and repair of water meters, and meter reading. Education, Experience, Other Requirements

Completion of high school and one year experience in general laboring and construction work; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.

Possession of a valid North Dakota Commercial Driver's License is highly preferred, with appropriate endorsements for equipment used. Applicants without the appropriate current commercial license will be reviewed based on previous work experience and education. Ability to obtain a valid North Dakota CDL and proper endorsements within one year of employment is required.

Compensation and Benefits

The assigned salary range for Utility Operator I under the 2026 City of Minot Annual Pay Plan is Grade 50, with an annual base salary range of $43,593- $64,713, which is $20.96- $31.11

This is a full time, FLSA non-exempt position eligible for overtime.
