The Institute of Space and Earth Information Science (ISEIS) is inviting applications for Research Assistant Professorship. Young, energetic and qualified researchers and scholars are invited to join our existing teams with expertise in one or more of the following areas:

1. Remote sensing, Earth observation and geospatial data science

2. Artificial intelligence, machine learning, spatial analysis and modeling

3. Climate change, carbon neutrality, environmental sustainability and greenhouse gas monitoring

4. Environment, health, human mobility, healthy cities and spatial epidemiology

5. Smart, sustainable and resilient cities, digital earth, urban analytics and virtual geographic environments

ISEIS is a research hub for remote sensing and geoinformation science research. ISEIS's main research areas include Cloud-prone and Rainy-areas Remote Sensing (CARRS), geospatial intelligence, geospatial artificial intelligence (GeoAI), Virtual Geographic Environments (VGE), climate change and sustainability science, carbon and greenhouse gas monitoring, emergency response and natural disaster monitoring and management, urban and metropolitan GIS, healthy and ecological cities, public health and geographic information systems, intelligent transport systems (ITS), and spatially integrated humanities and social sciences.

The Institute is also advancing the development of a national-level satellite remote sensing data centre and the Geospatial Intelligence Laboratory (GIL) to support interdisciplinary research and innovation in Earth observation, GeoAI, climate resilience, healthy cities and sustainable development. The Institute maintains extensive collaborations with academic, government and industry partners in Hong Kong and internationally.

Applicants should have:

(i) a relevant PhD degree in Geography, Geo-Information Science, Remote Sensing, Computer Science, Data Science, Environmental Science, Public Health, Engineering, or other relevant disciplines, with research expertise in one or more of the following areas: Earth observation and remote sensing, geospatial intelligence, geospatial artificial intelligence (GeoAI), spatial data science, climate change and carbon neutrality, environmental sustainability, healthy cities, spatial epidemiology, urban analytics, or smart and sustainable cities;

(ii) a good scholarly record demonstrating (potential for) research and teaching excellence; and

(iii) good proposal and report writing, communication and interpersonal skills.

Appointment will initially be made on a contract basis for up to three years commencing as soon as possible, renewable subject to performance and mutual agreement.
