Seeking a BC/BE Pathologist to serve as Medical Director and join an established pathology practice in the Greater Pittsburgh area.
Position Highlights:
Medical Director opportunity within an established pathology practice
Approximately 5,000 surgical pathology specimens annually
Approximately 1,000 non-GYN cytology specimens and 2,800 GYN Pap smears
Work alongside one full-time Pathologist, with clinical and call duties split equally
Read for a small critical access hospital
Two full-time cytotechnologists pre-screen all cytology specimens and independently sign out the majority of Pap smears
Three full-time histotechnologists gross most biopsy cases and select small specimens
Peripheral blood smear evaluation as needed
Serum and urine protein electrophoresis and immunofixation (SPEP/SPIF) interpretation twice weekly
Transfusion reaction evaluation as needed
FISH panel interpretation for bone marrow, peripheral blood, and solid tumors
Technical component of FISH testing performed by a reference laboratory
