Evening Residential Manager

Support. Protect. Make a Difference. Three Rivers Treatment Center is seeking an experienced and compassionate Evening Residential Manager to provide leadership and operational oversight during our evening shift. The Evening Residential Manager plays a critical role in ensuring that our communities remain safe, structured, therapeutic, and supportive for the adolescents we serve. This position provides direct leadership and guidance to Community Managers and evening direct-care staff while serving as the primary administrative contact during the evening hours.

The ideal candidate is a strong leader who can remain calm under pressure, make sound decisions during crisis situations, communicate effectively with clinical and residential teams, and hold staff accountable to high standards of care and professionalism. This position reports directly to the Director of Alternative Therapies and Community Management.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Supervision

Provide overall leadership and operational oversight during the evening shift.

Supervise and support Community Managers and evening residential staff.

Monitor staff performance and ensure employees are fulfilling their assigned responsibilities.

Provide coaching, feedback, and ongoing leadership development to Community Managers.

Conduct regular staff check-ins to identify concerns, challenges, and training needs.

Hold staff accountable for following Three Rivers Treatment Center policies, procedures, and standards of care.

Assess staff competency and recommend additional training when needed.

Administer disciplinary action when appropriate and in accordance with facility policy.

Residential Operations

Ensure evening operations run smoothly across all assigned communities.

Monitor room assignments, caseload management, staffing coverage, and unit activities.

Conduct regular quality-control and safety checks throughout the facility.

Monitor resident behavior, engagement, participation in the jobs program, and involvement in therapeutic activities.

Identify changes in resident behavior, needs, or acuity and communicate concerns to the clinical team.

Ensure staff are utilizing appropriate therapeutic and trauma-informed interventions.

Serve as the primary administrative resource for evening staff and Community Managers.

Crisis Management & Safety

Respond to and provide leadership during behavioral and safety-related crises.

Lead and/or supervise appropriate de-escalation efforts.

Ensure staff follow established crisis intervention, safety, and physical intervention procedures when interventions are necessary.

Maintain a calm, professional presence during high-pressure situations.

Communicate significant incidents, safety concerns, and changes in resident acuity to the Program Director and clinical team.

Ensure appropriate follow-up occurs after significant incidents.

Documentation & Quality Control

Ensure required documentation is accurate, complete, and submitted within established timeframes.

Review incident reports and other required residential documentation.

Monitor completion of work orders and follow up on outstanding maintenance concerns.

Ensure safety-related work orders receive appropriate priority.

Maintain clear communication with maintenance staff and Community Managers regarding facility concerns.

Provide detailed shift reports to supervisor and appropriate members of the multidisciplinary team.

Ensure important information is effectively communicated to the day shift.

Communication & Team Collaboration

Collaborate closely with all leadership staff.

Communicate resident concerns, staffing issues, operational challenges, and safety concerns promptly.

Participate in multidisciplinary problem-solving and care coordination.

Ensure continuity of information between evening and day shifts.

Promote a culture of teamwork, accountability, respect, and professionalism.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Psychology, Social Work, Human Services, or a related field required.

Master's degree in Nursing, Psychology, Social Work, Human Services, or a related field preferred.

RN preferred.

Minimum of 3 years of experience in a residential treatment, behavioral health, or acute psychiatric hospital setting.

Minimum of 2 years of supervisory or leadership experience in a behavioral health or residential treatment environment.

Experience working with youth with psychiatric and/or behavioral diagnoses.

Demonstrated experience with crisis intervention, behavioral management, and de-escalation strategies.

Experience with resident behavior monitoring, room assignments, caseload management, and residential operations.

Strong knowledge of trauma-informed care and crisis management.

Excellent organizational, administrative, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Must be at least 19 years of age in accordance with applicable Commonwealth of Virginia requirements for children's residential facilities.
