We are looking for seasonal workers who can work April through October.
Position Summary
The Landscape Install Crew Member supports the installation of residential and/or commercial landscape projects, including planting, grading, drainage, retaining walls, and related landscape construction work. This role works as part of a foreman-led team to complete projects safely, efficiently, and to DeHamer Landscaping’s quality standards.
The Landscape Install Crew Member performs hands-on field work, assists with equipment and materials, and contributes to maintaining clean, organized, and professional job sites. This position is ideal for a motivated team player who enjoys physical work, learning new skills, and working outdoors.
Key Responsibilities
Crew Support & Job-Site Operations
Work as part of a landscape installation crew under the direction of the Foreman
Assist with loading and unloading trucks and trailers with tools, equipment, and materials
Follow all safety procedures and company standards on job sites
Maintain clean, organized job sites, trucks, trailers, and equipment
Assist with inventory and tracking of landscape materials used on-site
Take direction from the Foreman and communicate clearly with teammates
Landscape Installation
Assist with installation of landscape projects including:
Planting trees, shrubs, and perennials
Mulch and stone bed installation
Sod installation and seeding
Fine grading and soil preparation
Drainage systems and corrections
Assisting with retaining wall construction and backfill
Assist with site prep, trenching, excavation, and restoration
Learn to read and understand landscape plans, layouts, and site drawings
Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively
Communication & Teamwork
Communicate respectfully and professionally with teammates
Report material needs, issues, or concerns to the Foreman promptly
Maintain a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn
Accept feedback and work toward continuous improvement
Safety & Performance
Follow all safety policies and procedures
Operate or assist with operating equipment such as skid steers, compactors, trenchers, and hand tools (as trained)
Approach challenges with a problem-solving mindset
Help ensure projects are completed on schedule and to quality standards
Qualifications
Ability to follow directions and work as part of a team
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
Ability to safely use or learn to use required tools and equipment
Strong reliability, attention to detail, and work ethic
Comfortable working outdoors in Michigan weather conditions
Physical Requirements
Ability to bend, kneel, stand, and perform physical labor for extended periods
Comfortable working on uneven terrain, in trenches, and around active construction sites
Ability to lift and carry materials and tools as required
