Teacher Assistant (Paraprofessional)

Make a difference in the life of a young person. Three Rivers Treatment Center is seeking a compassionate, patient, dependable, and team-oriented Teacher Assistant (Paraprofessional) to join our educational team. In this role, you will support adolescents in a structured residential treatment and school environment while helping them grow academically, socially, emotionally, and behaviorally. Our students may experience emotional, behavioral, developmental, or mental health challenges. The right candidate understands that progress doesn't always happen overnight—and is willing to celebrate the small victories along the way.

Assist teachers with daily lesson plans, classroom activities, and instruction.

Provide one-on-one and small-group academic support.

Help students complete assignments and reinforce classroom concepts.

Support instruction and accommodations related to IEP and 504 goals.

Assist with implementing Behavior Intervention Plans under supervision.

Help students develop positive social, emotional, communication, and coping skills.

Use trauma-informed and therapeutic approaches to help de-escalate challenging situations.

Maintain a structured, safe, organized, and supportive classroom.

Promote positive behaviors through encouragement, consistency, and collaborative problem-solving.

Supervise students during classroom activities, meals, transitions, and other scheduled activities.

Work closely with teachers, clinicians, case managers, residential staff, and other members of the treatment team.

Document academic progress, behavioral concerns, incidents, and daily activities as required.

Participate in team meetings, training, and professional development.

Follow all facility safety, emergency, and crisis-intervention procedures.

Qualifications Required:

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.

Ability to successfully complete required background and employment screening.

Ability to complete required facility training.

Preferred:

Two years of experience working with children or adolescents, or

Two years of college coursework in education, behavioral health, psychology, or a related field.

Associate's or bachelor's degree in education or a related field.

Experience working with children or adolescents with behavioral, emotional, developmental, or mental health needs.

Technology Skills

Candidates should be comfortable using:

Microsoft Word

Excel

PowerPoint

Outlook/email

Internet-based systems

Windows-based computer systems

Certifications

CPR certification required or must be obtained as required by the facility. Behavioral Management Program training required.

This Job Requires

Because we work in a residential treatment environment, candidates should be prepared for a position that is active and hands-on. The position may require:

Frequent walking, standing, bending, and movement throughout the facility.

Assisting with student transitions and safety.

Responding appropriately during behavioral or emergency situations.

Lifting and carrying as required by the position and facility procedures.

Working occasional irregular hours based on the needs of the program.

Wearing protective equipment when necessary.

Potential exposure to infectious or contagious illnesses.
