Safety Manager
Location: FT. Meade, MD
Schedule: Day Shift
Start Date: ASAP
Pay Rate: $50.00/hr- $55.00/hr
Diversified Safety Services is seeking an experienced Site Safety Manager to join our team and support a government project in Ft. Meade, MD.. This role offers the opportunity to play a critical role in driving a culture of safety, ensuring compliance, and fostering a proactive approach to workplace health and safety on a large-scale, high-visibility project.
Key Responsibilities
Champion Safety Culture: Prepare and enforce health and safety policies that build a safe, proactive jobsite environment.
Lead Safety Programs: Design and implement safety programs, plans, and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs).
Monitor & Report: Track safety compliance, document findings, and communicate updates
Identify & Solve Hazards: Spot risks early, recommend solutions, and ensure preventive measures are put in place.
Drive Engagement: Lead toolbox talks, safety meetings, and training sessions to keep teams engaged and aligned.
Stay Present & Involved: Maintain regular on-site presence, participate in project meetings, and provide proactive safety guidance.
Ensure Compliance: Verify that all work follows approved manuals, internal procedures, and contract requirements.
Maintain Documentation: Keep accurate logs of inspections, reports, and safety correspondence.
Oversee Site Activity: Supervise subcontractors and contractors to ensure work meets EHS requirements.
Investigate & Improve: Conduct investigations for accidents, incidents, and near misses; follow through on corrective actions.
Support Safety Standards: Ensure proper use of PPE and compliance with safety procedures at all times.
Support the Project: Contribute to additional safety initiatives and requirements as needed.
Project-Specific Requirements
Active BCSP CSP certification is required
Previous experience with 5 or more documented successful NAVFAC projects is required
Documentation of completed coursework/specialized training required (fall protection, scaffolding, confined space, excavation/trenching)
EM385-1-1 40 hour is required
OSHA 30 hour within 5 years is required
First Aid/ CPR certification is required
Must be able to provide detailed project list that shows all project experience
Preferred Qualifications
5+ years of hands-on construction safety experience.
Strong working knowledge of OSHA guidelines, regulations, and safety programs.
Ability to produce clear reports, develop procedures, and implement effective safety solutions.
Excellent hazard recognition, data analysis, and risk assessment skills.
Strong organizational, leadership, and communication abilities.
Professional presence on-site and ability to lead teams through incidents or emergencies with composure.
