Mechanical Engineering Intern
IMEG is hiring a Mechanical Engineering Intern in Columbus, OH to support the analysis, design, and implementation oversight of mechanical systems for the vertical building industry. This paid summer internship offers hands-on experience over 10-12 weeks with exposure to HVAC-focused work and real project deliverables.
You will work within project budgets, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and support project goals and client expectations across healthcare-focused MEP work. You will also assist with HVAC-related design tasks while contributing to high-performance, energy-efficient design aligned with MEP2050 and AIA2030.

What You'll Do
Assist with design portions of mechanical systems according to code and IMEG standards
Assist with researching commercially available equipment
Support client relations, project design notebook maintenance, and permanent record documentation
Coordinate design and schedule activities with other disciplines, including architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, technology, clerical, and equipment suppliers
Document design decisions, meetings, and client instructions while monitoring project design progress
Assist with reviewing project documents for accuracy and completeness prior to final check
Assist with preparing and issuing addendum information
Conduct periodic job site observations and other services required by the contract services agreement
Work within the project's monetary budget
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations
What You'll Bring
Required Education
· Completed at least 2 years towards a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent required
Required Skills/Abilities
· Strong interest in design consulting
· Proficient with MS Office Suite including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, and Outlook
· Skilled in AutoCAD and/or Building Information Modeling (BIM) software
· Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
Preferred Experience
· Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry preferred

State of Ohio Salary Range: $22.00/hr–$24.00/hr
The range listed above represents the base pay IMEG reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position in the work location identified above at the time of posting. For positions available in multiple locations, the minimums and maximums may vary based on work location.
Individual compensation will be determined based on job-related factors, including the candidate's experience, education, knowledge, skills, abilities, and licensure and certifications.
