POSITION SUMMARY:

Fabricate components and parts using hand-welding equipment, flame-cutting, hand soldering, or brazing equipment to clean, prepare, cut, burn, and weld or join metal components or to fill holes, indentations, or seams of fabricated metal products.

SPECIFIC DUTIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Determine appropriate welding techniques.

• Verify welding results by inspecting and testing welds ensuring all standards and specifications have been met.

• Develop welding projects by analyzing work orders, shop drawings and blueprints.

• Collect equipment and materials by studying specifications and component requirements.

• Additional duties as assigned

Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy environment by adhering to organizational standards and policies, and legal regulations including Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) and Environmental Protection Act (EPA).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Seeing, hearing, speaking, stooping, bending, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting (up to 50 pounds), fingering, grasping, feeling.

SPECIFIC SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

• Experienced gas tungsten metal arc welders; able to set up and operate MIG and TIG welding machines.

• Must be capable of welding a variety of materials including mild steel, galvanized steel, stainless steel and aluminum.

• Knowledge of welding symbols and arc, plasma, and flame cutting is essential.

• Ability to read and interpret documents and perform basic math calculations using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Minimum of three years experience in MIG & TIG welding processes.

• Trade school certification preferred
