Job Description

Position Overview

We are seeking a hands-on Build Technician to join a machine-building team responsible for assembling, integrating, testing, and preparing custom automated equipment for operation. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a shop environment, building machinery from components and drawings, troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues, and helping bring equipment from the build stage through installation and startup.

You will work closely with engineers and other technicians to assemble and modify equipment, support testing, and resolve build issues. The position combines in-shop machine building with occasional domestic and international travel to assist with equipment deployments at customer sites.

Key Responsibilities

Build and assemble custom machinery, automation systems, and robotic equipment using mechanical drawings, assembly documentation, and technical instructions.

Install and integrate mechanical, electrical, and electromechanical components, including brackets, motors, actuators, sensors, and related hardware.

Use hand tools, power tools, measuring instruments, and shop equipment to complete machine builds and adjustments.

Identify and troubleshoot mechanical and basic electrical issues during assembly, testing, and equipment startup.

Support machine testing, fit-up, alignment, modifications, and final preparation before shipment or deployment.

Perform light fabrication as needed, such as cutting, drilling, bending, and occasional welding.

Work with engineering to resolve design or assembly issues and communicate build feedback that can improve equipment quality and serviceability.

Maintain an organized, safe work area and follow shop safety practices and 5S standards.

Travel approximately 25% or more, domestically and internationally, to support equipment installation, deployment, and startup activities.

What We’re Looking For

Hands-on experience in machine building, equipment assembly, industrial automation, robotics, manufacturing equipment, electromechanical assembly, or a similar environment.

Ability to read and follow mechanical drawings, assembly prints, schematics, and technical work instructions.

Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort working with machinery, components, hardware, and tools.

Experience troubleshooting equipment and working through build issues in a practical, methodical way.

Familiarity with shop tools and equipment; fabrication or machine-shop experience is a plus.

Technical or trade school training, an associate degree, a bachelor’s degree, or equivalent hands-on industry experience.

Strong attention to detail, safe work habits, communication skills, and a collaborative approach to working with engineering and technical teams.

Willingness and ability to travel 25%+ domestically and internationally.

Physical & Work Environment

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Ability to safely use shop tools and equipment and work around industrial machinery.

Ability to climb ladders, bend, kneel, and work in different positions while assembling equipment.

Comfort working in an active machine-building shop where project needs and priorities may change.

Compensation & Benefits

Compensation: $31–$34 per hour, depending on relevant experience.

Medical, dental, and vision coverage

Flexible paid time off

401(k) retirement plan

Paid parental leave

Employee referral bonus program

Daily lunch provided

Hands-on exposure to advanced robotics, custom machinery, and automation technology

Full-time
